Coward

Ed Brubaker has a new writing task on his hands: adapting “Coward,” the first part of his “Criminal” series, for the big screen. Hunting Lane Films, which has made “Sugar” and “Half Nelson,” has acquired rights to the work and has already set up “Eclipse” director David Slade to direct the movie.

Brubaker spoke to Variety about the situation, describing the Marvel-published story of “Coward” this way: “It's a heist story, partly -- it's a lot of different crime stories wrapped in one, but heist stories are always exciting if they're pulled off correctly."

Star WarsIf anyone can sympathize with George Lucas amid all of the criticism he's recently received over the new Star Wars Blu-ray changes, it's comic book creators. Ron Marz and Eric Canete both came to the franchise founder's defense with some stern words today.

On a much more serious note, creators have been banding together to raise money to help cartoonist Dylan Williams, who's currently battling cancer. If you want to help out, you could do a lot worse than picking up the Batwoman artwork that Steve Lieber put up on eBay. Check out a link to that, pressing questions and a proposed casting choice for a "Stronium Dog" movie.

Batman in BeerI actually went light on the Steve Jobs retweets today. By now everyone knows the news about him resigning as Apple's CEO. However, you may have missed a few of the zingers that got tossed around the feed this morning and last night.

In other subjects, the art was strong with the last day's worth of tweeting. Ben Templesmith claims a Batman sketch he posted was painted in beer, which in addition to the fact that it's a Ben Templesmith Batman sketch makes the piece mighty rad. Check out a link to the big picture and Robert Kirkman's love for the CGI Yoda replacement that's coming to the new "Star Wars: Episode I" Blu-ray discs. It's all in the highlight reel below.

Locke and KeyWith all of the terrible happenings in the news this week, today felt like the perfect Wednesday to veer away from contentious opinions, looting in London and big events impacting individuals who happen to work in comics. So here, without further ado are the ten tweets in the Twitter Report feed from the last 24 hours that were most likely to induce happiness.

They include details about the "Locke and Key" game from Joe Hill, Eric Powell Godzilla art and Stan Lee smiling next to a real life Stripperella. (Spoiler alert: He looks really, really happy.) They are in no particular order except for the best one being last.

Captain America The First AvengerPeople cool enough to get in to "Captain America: The First Avenger" on its premiere night sounded off on Twitter Tuesday. Kevin Smith and Edgar Wright spoke highly of the film, and Smith also had some praise for the "Avengers" trailer.

Mark Millar, meanwhile, had to turn down a visit to the "Avengers" set, and shared his sorrow with his followers. His reasons, an evaluation of Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man and pre-Comic-Con travel tweets await after the jump.

PowersThe Dallas Mavericks seem to be getting more love in our feed than the Miami Heat as the NBA switches gears from the playoffs into the finals. Bulls fans may hold a grudge against LeBron James, but Dallas is the only team left in his path this year.

The comics twittersphere had loads of other matters to chat about last night as well. Brian Michael Bendis kept his "Powers" updates flowing, but writer Sterling Gates was the one keeping everyone in suspense over a supposed haunting at his apartment. Check out Mark Waid's theory and a deadline obstacle for Bill Willingham down below.

Glee finaleWith everyone raving about "Game of Thrones" the last few weeks, we were probably overdue for a few TV-related dislikes. This morning's reactions brought "Camelot" gripes from Ed Brubaker and Bill Willingham, as well as some dissatisfaction with the "Glee" finale from Rob Liefeld. Neil Gaiman, meanwhile, may have wished that he was watching TV; he certainly didn't sound too keen on doing a BEA signing from his home computer.

In other posting, Chip Zdarsky signed on to the hater wagon for the "Green Latern" movie. I've included some things to make you smile, too, though. Erik Larsen, for instance, shared another brilliant Spider-Man commission, and Paul Dini's costume from "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" is apparently up for sale. Find out where down below!

Gam of ThronesWe won't spoil anything for you here, but Episode 5 of "Game of Thrones," "The Wolf and the Lion," basically body-slammed all other trending topics in the feed last night. Jon Favreau called for Peter Dinklage to receive an Emmy. Ed Brubaker dropped an f-bomb, and Antony Johnston didn't even need to watch the episode to know what everyone was tweeting about.

The tweet recap below includes their shock, as well as some approval for Neil Gaiman's "Doctor Who" episode, piracy frustration, and a tweet about the Space Shuttle Endeavor's launch that sounds a little dubious. You be the judge after the jump.

Game of ThronesEver since HBO announced that they would be adapting George R. R. Martin's "Game of Thrones" for TV, fantasy nerddom has anxiously been awaiting its arrival. After weeks of tweeting about the show, everyone finally got to see the first episode last night, and Bill Willingham, Ed Brubaker and Marjorie Liu all seem to have checked the "Like" box.

That's not to say that there weren't a few critics in the audience as well, though. I'm not entirely sure which end of that spectrum Fred Van Lente's assessment fell on, but Brubaker and Willingham suggested some improvements, Joe Hill felt left out of the party and Brian Lynch just wants to see more angry geeks in the world.

Game of ThronesAs you may recall, the Marvel crew was gearing up for an "Ultimate Spider-Man" cartoon retreat yesterday. They didn't share too much about what was discussed, but someone apparently commandeered Brian Michael Bendis' tweeting device and announced that he'd be leaving "Avengers." Bendis vowed to take all of his Twitter-equipped devices with him to the bathroom from here on out.

In other posting, HBO's "Game of Thrones" series had an unexpected impact on Damon Lindelof, according to a post from him. Check out what that was about, as well as how Ed Brubaker feels about "Hobo with a Shotgun" and what Tim Seeley had to say about "Priest." It's all retweeted down below.
