Ghost RiderJohnny Blaze is set for one more ride through the gates of Hell when Nicolas Cage reprises his role as the flaming skulled vigilante in "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" for directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor — just don't expect his childhood sweetheart Roxanne to be riding shotgun.

Superhero Hype recently spoke with "Ghost Rider" actress Eva Mendes during a press junket for the upcoming comedy "The Other Guys." When asked if she would be participating in the upcoming relaunch of the "Ghost Rider" franchise, Mendes offered a simple: "No, unfortunately."

While Mendes' lack of involvement is certainly disappointing news for fans of her work on the first film, it's hardly surprising. In 2008, MTV News put the same question to Mendes about the possibility of a "Ghost Rider" sequel, and she was similarly unenthusiastic. Read More...

Ghost RiderNicolas Cage’s 2007 hit “Ghost Rider” may have made $115 million, but two years later it seems to be existing in that same state of Hollywood limbo as barely-blockbusters like “The Sum of All Fears,” “Hairspray,” or “The Italian Job” — sequel rumors pop up, but there’s some doubt whether one would cement a bigger “Bourne”-like box-office increase, or a “Tomb Raider”-esque over-anticipation of demand. And despite reports of movement on David Goyer's "Ghost Rider" sequel script, Cage says he’s the wrong person to ask these days for updates.

“You probably know more about it then I do,” laughed the veteran actor when asked about the project. “What have you read?"

Cage said he hadn’t heard anything about Goyer's sequel — which is set 10 years after the first film — and is afraid to comment on his future with the character these days. Read More...

Here we are, just a day away from the December 25 release of "The Spirit," and naturally, we're already asking about a sequel (because, let's face it, it's never to early to start talking sequel). So, when MTV had the chance to talk with "The Spirit" co-stars Gabriel Macht and Eva Mendes, we decided to see if they thought a follow-up to this Christmas' latest offering to the superhero film genre would be worth it.

While Macht seemed to be ready for it, Mendes had a different point of view. Check out the video below to see what the two stars had to say:

What do you think, readers? Would you like to see a sequel to "The Spirit," or is one film enough? We wanna know what you think in the comments.

Check out what the two had to say in the following video:

So, what do you think of Macht and Mendes' comments? Do you think reading the comics are important when taking on a role, or do they have the right idea? Talk it up in the comments.

'The Spirit'With the December 25 debut of Frank Miller's "The Spirit" approaching, Lionsgate has fed the 'Net with yet another trailer for the highly anticipated adaptation of the Will Eisner series.

We've posted the new trailer after the jump in all of its oft-cited "Sin City"-esque glory, full of black and white scenes splashed with occasional color. The trailer also provides a better look at Samuel L. Jackson's villain, The Octopus, as well as quite a bit of skin, courtesy of Gabriel Macht (The Spirit) and Eva Mendes (Sand Saref).

We also catch a glimpse of the much-discussed brawl 'tween The Octopus and The Spirit which had fans grumbling when it was screened during San Diego Comic-Con and Jackson favorably comparing the film to a Looney Tunes episode during a recent MTV News interview. Read More...

Eva MendesIn an interview with MTV News last week, Nic Cage insisted that, not only were talks moving forward for “Ghost Rider 2,” but they had progressed to a point where both villains and locations were bandied about.

“It looks like it will take place in Europe and the character will work with the [Catholic] Church,” he said. “It’ll be a completely new experience.”

Cage is obviously enthusiastic - but is everybody?

“No, I think ‘Ghost Rider’ had its moment,” co-star Eva Mendes told MTV, more or less echoing statements she made last May. “I don't know about a sequel, but I don’t think it needs one.” Read More...
