Johnny WhitworthGhost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance” won’t be released until next year, but actor Johnny Whitworth is already talking about it and his role as the villain Blackout.

In an interview with ShockTillYouDrop, Whitworth answered questions about the film and his favorite elements of the pseudo-sequel. His favorite part of shooting? Well, besides working with Nicolas Cage, it’s the whole comic-book thing.

“I got to be a comic book character,” Whitworth gloated. Read More...

We're just shy of a year away from the premiere of "Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance," Nicolas Cage's second go-around as Marvel's leather-clad, skeletal anti-hero. Even though the film is still shooting in Romania, we managed to sneak in a few questions about it as its star made the press rounds for "Drive Angry 3D," his new, explosive adventure that arrived in theaters today.

"It’s going to be really wild," said Cage of the "Ghost Rider" pseudo-sequel. "[There's] a lot of adrenaline. It’s like extreme sports." Read More...

Ghost RiderAlthough it's not a reboot in the traditional sense of the word, "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" will veer off from its predecessor's path in at least one meaningful way: a brand new origin.

Speaking with UKPA (via Superhero Hype), Nicolas Cage revealed that the currently shooting "Ghost Rider" sequel is a completely different beast than the original film. So much so, in fact, that there's an entirely new origin sequence in place.

"[It's going to be] very different," he said. "A completely new experience and that's how the directors choose to see it. I mean there's even a new origin sequence." Read More...

Nicolas CageThe "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" news has been pounding the online community fast and furiously, thanks largely to the fact that directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor are currently hard at work on the comic book adaptation's Romanian production set.

But it's leading man Nicolas Cage who is at the center of attention today, as the "Ghost Rider" star took some time out from his busy shooting schedule to discuss his goals, ideas and work on the superhero sequel during an interview with Collider.

"I have high hopes for it," Cage said of the sequel. "I’m very confident that something special is going to come out of this experience. You can just feel it on the set." Read More...

Ghost RiderSome new photos from the Romania set of "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" have emerged online, once again showing Nicolas Cage reprising his role as flame-headed avenger Johnny Blaze for the superhero sequel.

The images first debuted on Romanian site Libertatea, showing Cage in multiple poses as he tinkers with his motorcycle and points at the camera. But Cage isn't the most interesting person in these photos — that distinction belongs to the kid he's riding with, if certain rumors are to be believed.

Although the young actor's name isn't known, it's believed that the child seen riding with Cage's Blaze is the very same kid who is supposedly the son of The Devil, played in the film by Ciaran Hinds. More importantly is the rumor that this character is none other than Danny Ketch, well known to Marvel Comics fans as the third character to use the Ghost Rider name. Read More...

Ghost Rider 2Filming is currently underway for "Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance" in Romania, so it was only a matter of time before some footage from the set hit the 'net.

Romanian website Ora de Sibiu has posted some video from the set of the film featuring Johnny Blaze himself, Nicolas Cage. Cage appears around the 1:20 mark in the first piece of shaky video, and looks to be acting out a scene with writer/directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor. There's also footage of Cage signing autographs for a crowd of fans.

A sequel to 2007's "Ghost Rider," the second film takes Johnny Blaze to Eastern Europe, where he battles the devil for the soul of his mortal son's body. Read More...

Ghost RiderNicolas Cage isn't exactly unfamiliar with playing multiple characters in one movie. He famously played the mostly fictional Kaufman twins in director Spike Jonze's "Adaptation," in addition to starring as two different characters (albeit with quite literally the same face) opposite John Travolta in "Face/Off."

Now, it appears that Cage is striking a similar duality in "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance." Geek Week reports that co-directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor recently stated on their Twitter account that "the dual role of Blaze/Zarathos will be a Nic Cage classic."

In the comic books, Zarathos is a demonic spirit that was merged with Johnny Blaze courtesy of Mephisto, the devilish trickster played by Peter Fonda in the first "Ghost Rider" film. Indeed, Zarathos himself very much embodies the "Spirit of Vengeance" indicated in the sequel's subtitle, begging the question: is Nicolas Cage playing both the hero and the villain in "Ghost Rider 2?" Ghost RiderWhen the Ghost Rider rides again, don't be surprised if the antihero's flaming skull isn't burning as brightly as it did in the last film. Although Sony Pictures Entertainment has officially given the green light to "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance," the sequel to Mark Steven Johnson's 2007 comic book adaptation, there is a hitch: Nicolas Cage's latest ride as Johnny Blaze is going to come at a cheaper cost.

The Wrap reports that the film's budget has been trimmed down from a proposed $135 million to a leaner $75 million.

Part of the reason for the budget's trimming reportedly involves Sony's commitments to other major franchise features, including "Spider-Man," "Men in Black 3" and "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo." Read More...

Idris ElbaFrom cool and calculated criminal Stringer Bell on "The Wire" to the mythical god Heimdall in "Thor," Idris Elba has certainly done his best to diversify his career. In fact, that's exactly why the actor accepted a role in the forthcoming "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance."

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Elba defended his decision to sign on for the "Ghost Rider" sequel, in which he appears opposite Nicolas Cage as an alcoholic warrior monk.

"I get criticized for taking roles in films like 'Ghost Rider 2,' but if you look at my résumé, dude, I’ve mixed it up as much as I can," laughed the actor. "I love to play different roles. That’s just the kind of actor I am." Read More...
