Inception"Inception" arrives in theaters today, providing moviegoers with yet another healthy dose of Christopher Nolan's crazy adventures in filmmaking. Of course, "Inception" isn't necessarily what comic book fans are most eager to see from Nolan's camp — those fans are more likely craving Nolan's return to Gotham City in the untitled "Batman 3" and his debut trip to Metropolis as a producer on "Superman."

But that doesn't mean we can't blend Nolan's "Inception" sensibilities with his comic book plans, folks. After all, "Inception" boasts a great deal of talented actors, including a handful who have already appeared in Nolan's "Batman" films such as Cillian Murphy, Michael Caine and Ken Watanabe. What's the harm in adding a few more?

Director Christopher Nolan's "Inception" hits theaters today, and while everyone's throwing around terms like "groundbreaking" and "revolutionary" to describe the mind-bending film, there's one question on the minds of most comic fans: how does it match up against his previous blockbuster, "The Dark Knight"?

In an interview with MTV News, Nolan described how "The Dark Knight" and prior films like "Memento" played a role in the development of "Inception."

"I've been very fortunate in my career in many ways, but very much in the way in which I've been able to build one film to the next," he told MTV News. "I started with the smallest-possible-scale film, 'Following,' which I made with friends on weekends — just us doing to it. To 'Memento,' which had a real budget and a real cast. I gradually built on that." Read More...

Ken Watanabe in 'Batman Begins'FROM MOVIES BLOG: Christopher Nolan has recruited another familiar face from Gotham City. According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Batman Begins" actor Ken Watanabe will reunite with Christopher Nolan (and fellow "Begins" actor Cillian Murphy) for "Inception," Nolan's mysterious follow-up to "The Dark Knight."

He's not the only new castmember. Tom Hardy ("RocknRolla") has also signed on, joining Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Cillian Murphy, Ellen Page and Marion Cotillard. Not surprisingly, the plot still remains under wraps, but THR reveals that Watanabe will be playing the film's villain, a man who is attempting to blackmail DiCaprio. Hardy will be playing a member of DiCaprio's "team," which should put him together with grad student Page and Gordon-Levitt. Murphy's role is still unspecified.

Joseph Gordon-LevittFROM MOVIES BLOG: Joseph Gordon-Levitt is already a successful young actor by any measure, but he's quickly on his way to becoming a household name. A role in a Christopher Nolan film can only help, and that's what the "G.I. Joe" star has landed. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gordon-Levitt has signed onto Nolan's top secret thriller, "Inception." The young up-and-comer has replaced James Franco, who dropped out of the running due to schedule conflicts.

The cast now includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page, Cillian Murphy, and Gordon-Levitt. The plot still remains under lock and key, but it's been previously reported that DiCaprio plays "a CEO-type" and that Gordon-Levitt will play his associate. Page plays a grad student who is somehow the CEO's sidekick, and Cotillard plays DiCaprio's wife.

Michael CaineFROM MOVIES BLOG: Cillian Murphy may not be the only "Batman Begins" cast member reuniting with director Christopher Nolan for his upcoming secrecy-shrouded movie "Inception." With Leonardo DiCaprio already locked for the lead role and Ellen Page, Marion Cotillard and Murphy also announced to star, Michael Caine could be the next big addition, with a final decision to be made as soon as later this week.

"I think there might be a part for me," Caine told MTV News during a press event for his latest film, "Is Anybody There?" Caine appeared as Alfred Pennyworth in both "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight," as well as Nolan's Oscar-nominated film "The Prestige."

Cillian MurphyFROM MOVIES BLOG: Though its plotline is still a tightly kept secret, Christopher Nolan's next film, "Inception," is coming together. Last month, we reported that Leonardo DiCaprio had come aboard to play the lead, and that Ellen Page was rumored to be the next to sign.

The rumors were true, and according to The Hollywood Reporter, Page is coming aboard, along with Cillian Murphy and Oscar winner Marion Cotillard. (Clearly, he had to have one familiar face among all the newcomers, even if it was the Scarecrow's!)

Leonardo DiCaprioFROM MOVIES BLOG: The world knows what Christopher Nolan's next movie isn't doing (i.e., returning to Gotham City) but no one knows just what it is. However, it's starting to take some shape with its casting, as according to The Hollywood Reporter, Leonardo DiCaprio is joining "Inception."

The film is now being described as "a contemporary sci-fi thriller set within the architecture of the mind." Nolan being Nolan, we all knew it would be something along the brain-bending lines of "Memento" and "The Prestige," so that description will have you looking for the story's twist before the film even begins rolling.

Christopher NolanBat-fans across the globe were treated to a bit of disappointing news last night, as The Hollywood Reporter broke the story that "The Dark Knight" director Christopher Nolan's next project will be "Inception" -- an original screenplay written by Nolan and described as a "contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind." This all but pushes back a sequel to 2008's box office champ for at least the next few years, as Nolan reportedly plans to begin filming "Inception" this summer for a 2010 release.

While the report puts to rest months of speculation as to whether Nolan would jump back into the Bat-franchise or take on a different project post-"Dark Knight," it's the details surrounding Nolan's next venture that have left fans with even more questions than answers. Read More...
