Men in Black

"Men in Black 3" rolled out a headache-inducing poster late last month, not exactly the most encouraging sign based on some of the troubling reports already floating about the long awaited sci-fi sequel. But the new trailer that just dropped today suggests that the MIB agency is back and, quite possibly, better than ever.

Check out the trailer past the jump!

OldboyFor fans of the original manga and the live-action adaptation by Chan-wook Park, an American retelling of "Oldboy" has always been a hard thing to imagine. There was no way the proposed Will Smith version could embrace the dark overtones of the story to satisfy fans. How watered-down would it be?

Adding director Spike Lee to the equation, certainly gave fans more hope for the final product, but only complicated the matter further.

Spike Lee would inevitably inject a lot of his own style into the story, which is far from familiar territory for the auteur. What would a Spike Lee-directed "Oldboy" look like?

Men in Black

I'm not sure what is more straining on my eyeballs, the new poster for "Men in Black 3" or a neuralyzer shot from point blank range.

Over the holiday weekend, Collider posted a snap shot one of their readers took at a theater for the third film in the sci-fi comedy series. The description on the site says that the poster is of Tommy Lee Jone's Agent K, but even if I look at the picture as long as I physically can, I still can't for the life of me distinguish the picture as anything beyond vaguely human.

Check it out after the jump.

Josh BrolinIt's official: Josh Brolin is going to the lead in Spike Lee's "Oldboy" remake.

There had been plenty of names swirling for the role, and as recently as last week it looked like Christian Bale was a major contender for the role, but now Deadline is reporting that Brolin is set for the part. That makes the "No Country For Old Men" star the first official cast member for the remake of the hit Korean revenge thriller.

Brolin just finished wrapping "Men in Black 3," and will soon begin work on "Gangster Squad." Since there's plenty still to do in pre-production for "Oldboy," the guess is that Brolin will squeeze filming "Oldboy" in before he starts on Jason Reitman's "Labor Day" next June.

After an unofficial report hit the 'net a few weeks ago that production on "Men In Black 3" was delayed due to script problems, we weren't alone in wondering whether the third installment of the popular sci-fi franchise was in troubled waters.

When MTV News caught up with "Men In Black 3" actor Josh Brolin during this weekend's Academy Awards, we asked him whether the time-traveling adventure that has him playing a younger version of Tommie Lee Jones' character was indeed in danger.

"No, no... It's good," Brolin told MTV News. "We're finally starting up again." Read More...

By now it's pretty much a given that "Jonah Hex" will go down as the worst of this year's movies based on comic book properties — and there's an argument to be made that it's one of the worst comic book movies of all time (it's certainly on my list).

Previously, actor Josh Brolin conceded that when it comes to the troubled film based on DC's scarred bounty hunter, he's not proud of "Jonah Hex." However, the project naturally came up in conversation while Brolin made the press rounds for another Western he's starring in these days: "True Grit."

"It is," laughed Brolin when asked if this Western is better than "Jonah Hex." "It didn't need to be, but it is." Read More...

Last we heard from the "Men In Black 3" camp, the plan was to shoot the modern day scenes in the time-traveling sequel before the end of the year, then go on hiatus until February, when the scenes unfolding in 1969 will be filmed. However, there were rumors of some creative issues that played a role in the upcoming hiatus, possibly prompting a rewrite of the 1969-era plot.

When MTV News caught up with Josh Brolin during the press junket for his new film "True Grit," the actor heaped praise on the "Men In Black 3" script, but stepped cautiously around the rumors of script difficulties.

"Not yet," Brolin told MTV News when asked if he'd filmed any of his role in "Men In Black 3" yet — which makes sense, given that he'll play the 1969 version of Tommy Lee Jones' character. Read More...

Back in May, Columbia announced that it was officially moving forward with "Men in Black III," with Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones set to reprise their roles as Agents J and K respectively. Shortly thereafter, Josh Brolin was confirmed to play a younger version of Jones' Agent K thanks to the film's time-travel angle.

Having already worked with Jones on the set of of the Coen brothers' "No Country for Old Men," Brolin is perhaps uniquely suited to capture the mannerisms of the elder actor while portraying the same character at a different point in his life. When asked by MTV News if he had taken the opportunity to study the rest of Jones' films for the role, Brolin was enthusiastic with his reply.

"I am! I feel like I spend too much time with Tommy anyway," said Brolin. "But now I'm looking at it from a different perspective. It's very, very interesting. As you can tell I get nervous talking about it because I'm not there yet and hopefully it'll be alright. I think it's going to be a lot of fun." Read More...

We knew to temper our expectations for "Jonah Hex" when star Josh Brolin began hyping its "absurdist tone," but let me be honest here for a sec: it's currently sitting somewhere alongside "Catwoman" and "Elektra" in my list of some of the worst comic book movies ever made. The horse-mounted gatling gun gives it an edge over the other two films, but only a slight edge.

And while I know I'm not alone in having some negative feelings about the film, it's vindicating to know that even the film's star struggled to find something positive to say about the project.

"Now that I don't have to promote it? . . . No," said Brolin when asked if he was proud of "Jonah Hex." Read More...

In the first "Jonah Hex" trailer, there's one particular item that should give fans a pretty clear sense of whether or not this comic book adaptation is something they'll find interest in. I'm speaking, of course, about the horse-mounted gatling gun, one of the most absurd pieces of weaponry seen on film in the past several years. It's not a concept that everybody can get behind — but it's certainly one that lead actor Josh Brolin was very amused by!

"The gatling gun, man," the actor laughed when MTV News asked him to recount his favorite and most absurd weapons featured in "Jonah Hex." "It's not funny to anybody else, but it's always funny to me." Read More...
