Kick-Ass 2Chloe Moretz can't stop teasing impending good news for a "Kick-Ass" sequel, but we haven't heard any official word outside of her cryptic hints. Co-writers Jane Goldman and Matthew Vaughn have said that they would be interested in a second film if it could top the first, but there were no immediate plans to follow up on the 2010 superhero cult hit. Even with a second "Kick-Ass" comic series on stands, official word on a movie sequel still hasn't hit.

But we may have some of the most concrete "Kick-Ass 2" news in a while. During an interview for her latest film, "The Woman In Black," Goldman told MTV News that while she's still enthusiastic about further exploring the world of "Kick-Ass," she doesn't believe that she and Vaughn would be back as writer and director, but instead as producers.

"I think the only thing that is fairly sure is that right now, Matthew doesn't have any plans to direct it. He and I are not currently talking about writing it either," she told MTV. "It may well be that Matthew oversees ['Kick-Ass 2'] in a producer role, and I may also be involved in that capacity. I know that there is somebody that Matthew has been talking to who would be interested in writing and directing that. That would be cool."

Mark Millar has never been short on ideas. Over the years the comic scribe has led large-scale initiatives within the Marvel Universe. His creator-owned line of various publisher projects collected under the title “Millarworld” has seen Hollywood success with adaptations of “Wanted” and “Kick-Ass,” while renewed studio interest in “War Heroes” indicates that the mutually beneficial relationship is not soon to end.

It's no surprise then that Millar is starting his own film and television production company, "Millarworld Productions," with a focus on filming within his home country of Scotland. In a high energy interview with The Scottish Sun, Millar states that he feels passionately about doing in Scotland what Peter Jackson did in New Zealand with "Lord of the Rings."

Superior

Mark Millar fans, get ready to kick some ass again.

It's been announced that "X-Men: First Class" director Matthew Vaughn, who directed the adaptation of Millar's "Kick-Ass" in 2010, has secured the film rights to two more Millarverse titles: "Superior," the Scottish writer's superhero tale illustrated by "Secret Invasion" artist Leinil Yu, and "The Secret Service," a newly announced comic book co-created by "Watchmen" legend Dave Gibbons.

There's been so much back and forth regarding whether a sequel to 2010's superhero action-comedy "Kick-Ass" would happen that it's hard to remember where it stands. The creator of the comics, Mark Millar, has stood by his conviction that a sequel to the film would happen and is currently working on a second book, but after stars Aaron Johnson and Lyndsy Fonseca claimed that a sequel probably wouldn't come to fruition, things seemed as grim as they could be. That is until screenwriter Jane Goldman told Absolute Radio that a sequel "wasn't in the works."

But all is not lost, "Kick-Ass" fans. Hit Girl herself, Chloe Moretz, recently told MTV News at the Scream Awards that some "Kick-Ass 2" news was imminent and seemed genuinely excited to share some hints.

Our look at the MTV Movie Awards nominees hailing from the comic book world continues today with the final category featuring some familiar costumed vigilantes.

This time around, "The Green Hornet" actor Jay Chou squares off against "Kick-Ass" actress Chloe Grace Moretz for the title of "Best Breakout Star." Sure, there are a few other nominees in the pool, but let's be honest — we're pulling for a comic book movie sweep of as many categories as possible. First up, it's Kato!

Jay Chou
As the film's motorcycle-riding martial artist and mechanic, Chou took on the unenviable task of filling the shoes of original Kato actor Bruce Lee. Chou stepped up to the challenge with a mix of quick wit and even quicker moves, making the best of director Michael Gondry's "Kato Vision" style of fight filming. Read More...

Our introduction to the 2011 MTV Movie Awards nominees hailing from the comic book movie world continues today with another double-dose of actors portraying some of last year's most popular costumed heroes.

In the "Biggest Badass star" category, "Kick-Ass" star Chloë Grace Moretz and "Iron Man 2" headliner Robert Downey Jr. go up against a trio of other brawlers who kicked no small amount of butt on the big screen in 2010. And just in case you need a reminder why Moretz and Downey are in the mix, we've put together a little refresher video for each of them.

Robert Downey Jr.
Let's face it: Iron Man wasn't a household name until Downey made the role his own, and he continued to keep the armored Avenger on everyone's minds last year in "Iron Man 2." Not only did he have a climactic brawl with "Best Villain" nominee Mickey Rourke, but he also had a memorable showdown with Don Cheadle, who had everyone looking forward to his debut as War Machine. Oh, and on top of all that, he donned the briefcase armor — what more can fans ask? (*cough* Mandarin *cough*) Read More...

Kick-Ass 2It won’t be long before “X-Men: First Class” is in theaters, and then we’ll see if it does well enough to make a sequel a real possibility. However, talk of sequels is already out there — especially during our "X-Men: First Class" junket interviews — and director Matthew Vaughn has an answer ready, too.

“You could do hundreds [of sequels],” he said in an interview with Slash Film. “We’ve got from '62 to 2000, whenever that was set. The fun thing for this, sequel-wise, is you can go through the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s now.”

Still, nothing is guaranteed... yet. Read More...

CLiNTIt seems comic book writer Mark Millar has the golden touch these days. We’ve seen his popularity grow outside the comic world with successful feature film adaptations of “Kick-Ass” and “Wanted” and he doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon.

On September 2, with the help of British talents Jonathan Ross and Frankie Boyle, Millar and Titan Magazines will debut “CLiNT,” a new monthly magazine featuring features and interviews on movies, video games and television as well as four serialized comic-strips.

“I want this to be edgy and irreverent, the kind of thing guys will be passing around lunch-halls and common rooms,” said Millar. Exactly what kind of content could get guys and gals to do such a thing? How about the much-anticipated launch to the “Kick-Ass 2" comic? Read More...

Kick-Ass"Kick-Ass" hits DVD and Blu-Ray tomorrow (Tuesday, August 3), and it's arriving on shelves with an impressive selection of extra material to accompany director Matthew Vaughn's live-action adaptation of the hit comic book by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr.

If you've been following along at home, you already know that "Kick-Ass" traveled a long road to the big screen, beginning with Vaughn's decision to finance the film independently in order to preserve his vision for the project. After the first footage from the film earned rave reviews during San Diego's Comic-Con International, Lionsgate picked up distribution for the film back in August 2009 and the edgy superhero tale premiered in April, winning its box office weekend and igniting no small amount of controversy.

I spoke with Vaughn to get his take on the film's unique "Making Of" story, the lessons he learned from the project, and the editing room decisions behind the final "Kick-Ass" cut. Oh, and don't worry — there's some talk of "Kick-Ass 2" in there, too. Read More...
