Ryan ReynoldsSome people think that Ryan Reynolds will have a hard time starring in "Deadpool" due to his commitment to "Green Lantern." Do you know who doesn't think that? "Deadpool" producer Lauren Shuler Donner, that's who!

Speaking with Crave Online, Donner stated her belief that Reynolds' decision to play Hal Jordan in "Green Lantern" won't harm "Deadpool." In fact, it might even help the "X-Men" spinoff.

"Oh, yeah, sure," Donner said when asked if Reynolds doing "Green Lantern" might actually help "Deadpool." "It's very different. It's like Harrison Ford doing 'Star Wars' and 'Indiana Jones.' DC and Marvel are different universes with different movies. But sure, the more popular and well known he is the better." Read More...

DeadpoolDeadpool himself is an anti-hero at best, so trying to come up with an appropriate villain for the Merc with a Mouth to square off against in his upcoming solo feature is an understandable challenge for the folks at Fox—but that doesn't mean they don't have some ideas.

In an interview with Empire Online, producer Lauren Shuler Donner spoke about Fox's plans for the "Deadpool" film, which she confirmed would be completely different than the version of the character seen in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."

Donner said that there are plenty of villains that could wind up in Deadpool—including Black Tom, Slayback and the Weasel—but the one she sounded the most interested in is none other than Blind Al, an elderly woman that Wade Wilson keeps locked up at home. Read More...

WolverineIt's already well-known that Hugh Jackman wants to bring Logan to Japan for "Wolverine 2," reportedly following the storyline from the Japan-set Chris Claremont and Frank Miller comic book run.

That's definitely still the plan according to producer Lauren Shuler Donner, who recently gave a massive update on the "X-Men" film universe to Empire Online.

Donner went into such detail on the "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" sequel's plotline that she even called out specific new characters. Read More...

X-Men: First ClassWhat does the "X-Men" movie universe have in common with the "Harry Potter" films? Quite a lot, according to producer Lauren Shuler Donner.

Donner recently went into detail on the upcoming "X-Men: First Class" film in an interview with Empire Online, saying that the adventures of Professor Xavier's gifted youngsters would follow the example set by the later "Harry Potter" movies.

"Harry Potter is a bit of a role model for us, absolutely," she said. "But we want it to be like the recent, darker Potters. It should not be a kiddie movie—we're in the 'X-Men' world so you can't suddenly change the tone." Read More...

MagnetoIf you weren't a fan of my recent casting call for "X-Men Origins: Magneto," don't worry—it's very likely that none of those actors will get the chance to play the villainous mutant, as the movie itself might never get made.

"Magneto" producer Lauren Shuler Donner gave Empire Online an update on the highly anticipated "X-Men" spin-off, saying that while screenwriter David Goyer's script is "brilliant," it's likely that the film won't ever see the light of day.

"I'm not sure that film is going to be made," she admitted. "The studio has a wealth of potential stories, and they have to stand back and decide which ones to make. And Magneto, I think, is at the back of the queue. Maybe it'll get made in five years—who knows?" Read More...

First Class'Despite his potential future role as leader of Marvel's merry mutants the X-Men, young Cyclops Tim Pocock isn't calling the shots just yet. The rumors fueled by Pocock's seemingly telling post on Twitter about a 2010 "X-Men: First Class" shooting schedule last week have since been retracted by the "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" star and one of the leading forces behind all things "X" now says 20th Century Fox has something entirely new in mind for the franchise.

Slashfilm caught up with Lauren Shuler Donner at a press event for the UK release of "Origins" and asked the longtime X-Men producer if there were any claws to Pocock's comment that he was, "Currently shooting Australian TV series till February 2010...then X-men first class," which she refuted. First ClassWhen "X-Men: First Class" was initially announced, there was some confusion about the nature of the film. Would it follow the exploits of a younger X-squad? Will we see characters from the previous films, or would this follow an all-new (but hopefully comic-friendly) cast of characters?

The answer is significantly clearer today, thanks to comments from "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" producer Lauren Shuler Donner. During an interview on Fox Movie Channel's Life After Film School transcribed by Comics Continuum, the producer revealed that "First Class" will truly live up to its name by focusing on the founding days of the mutant group. Storm in 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine'?Attentive X-Men fans might have caught a hotly rumored cameo in the most recent “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” trailer. We know Gambit, Sabretooth, and even the loudmouthed Rob Liefeld creation Deadpool are all going to be featured. But one other mutant appeared to have sneaked in the back door: Storm!

There’s a small girl with bright white hair who could easily pass for a young Ororo Munroe at about the 1:53 mark of the trailer. (Read on for a screenshot of the scene in question.) And now, producer Lauren Shuler Donner appears to have confirmed that Storm was at least originally slated to appear.

“She was a little part of the movie,” Donner told Widescreen Vision. The bad news is, however, that Ororo may be skipping straight from the trailer to the “Wolverine” DVD. Read More...

MagnetoFor somebody with a giant, "I hate humanity" chip on his shoulder, Magneto, Marvel's megalomaniacal "Master of Magnetism," has got to be happy with the latest news regarding his upcoming spotlight film, "X-Men Origins: Magneto," which (if yesterday's plot synopsis news can be trusted) will tell the fascinating story of Magneto's life -- from his childhood to his tense relationship with Professor X, which all eventually leads up to his staunch anti-homo sapien stance.

Yet despite movement on the project, when will a Magneto film actually hit theaters, considering "Wolverine," "Iron Man 2," "Captain America," "Thor" and pretty much half of the Marvel Universe all have films in production with official release dates attached? Empire online recently caught up with "Magneto" producer Lauren Schuler Donner to get a status report on the film.

“We have a script on 'Magneto' which is actually sort of 'Magneto and Charles Xavier,'” explained Donner in the Empire piece. “It’s Erik and Charles in their early, early years.” Read More...

WolverineMuch like his hyper-mysterious origin in the comics, news about 2009's "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" has remained shrouded in secrecy. With the exception of co-star Lynn Collins explaining her character's (The Silver Fox) love affair with the X-Men's resident berzerker, and rumors regarding onset turmoil, details about "Wolverine" have been few and far between.

Fortunately, the fine folks at ComingSoon.net have got your hook-up. Catching up with "Wolverine" producer (and soon-to-be recipient of a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame) Lauren Shuler Donner at a red carpet event, the crew managed to get some more info regarding the upcoming film, as well as her thoughts on a possible Deadpool spin-off.
