Kick-Ass 2

"Kick-Ass 2" is looking to head into production next month and is quickly acquiring a new cast of characters. But we're just as excited about the actors from the first film who will be reprising their roles this time around.

Lyndsy Fonseca is one such actress who will be returning for "Kick-Ass 2," even if it's for a smaller part. IGN caught up with the "Nikita" star and asked her to tease whether she'll be in the sequel or not.

"She’s just in the beginning, so far. I’m just happy to be involved," Fonseca said. "She’s still the strange Katie -- somewhat girl next door but has strange, drug-addict boyfriends and works at the needle exchange. Very contradicting personality traits... It’s still that weird!"

Yes, you read that headline correctly, and yes, it is possibly the most ridiculous headline I have written in my entire career. The best part? It happened.

Apparently, "Doctor Who" star Matt Smith was one of several actors who participated in a recent event called "24 Hour Plays" in Los Angeles. For his part in the event, which tasks writers with scripting a play in one night and having actors perform it the next, Smith played a "very confused Batman" who wakes up on an autopsy table.

There's a full report on the event and Smith's performance over at The Telegraph, while The Daily Mail has a bunch of great photos of Smith and some of the other actors. Oh, and Smith's take on Batman wasn't the only comics-friendly performance during the show. Read More...

Ever since "Kick-Ass" brought its fresh, violent, foul-language-laden take on the superhero movie to the big screen in April, everyone involved — from director Matthew Vaughn to star Aaron Johnson to Mark Millar, the co-creator of the comic on which the film is based — have talked up the sequel. Rumors have swirled that Millar was working on a script and that Vaughn had an eye to direct when he'd wrapped work on that other superhero flick he's spearheading, "X-Men: First Class."

It is our sad duty to bring you the following news that certainly does not kick ass: Co-star Lyndsy Fonseca, who plays the titular hero's girlfriend, says that it could be quite some time before the sequel, (tentatively titled "Kick-Ass 2: Balls to The Wall") hits theaters.

"It's going to be a while if it does happen," she told MTV News while promoting her TV series "Nikita" at New York Comic Con this weekend. "Everyone's kind of working on other things, and there needs to be more issues of the comic before there's material to do another movie. So wait and see." Read More...

Nicolas CageMark Millar and John Romita Jr.'s "Kick-Ass" is certainly living up to its namesake this week in terms of news, as The Hollywood Reporter has now announced that Nicolas Cage will be joining the cast, playing the role of a retired cop who, with the help of his daughter (played by the recently announced Chloe Moretz), sets out to take down a lethal druglord.

Adding to this news, THR also reports that the two main characters of "Kick-Ass" have also been cast. As reported yesterday, the films lead character, Dave Lizewski, will be played by Hollywood newcomer Aaron Johnson, and Lyndsy Fonseca ("Big Love") has been cast as Katie Deauxma, his love-interest.
