Neal

As Dum Dum Dugan, Neal McDonough had a minor but important role in "Captain America: The First Avenger." All he really had to do was stand around cracking wise and looking tough, a part he played to its fullest. "Captain America" ended with Steve Rogers waking up in the present day, so most moviegoers probably figured we wouldn't see Dugan again, as he was previously seen in 1945. But this being the Marvel Universe, it would appear that Dugan may have gotten himself jacked up on all sorts of anti-aging nanomachines that allowed him to survive to see the likes of Justin Bieber and Taco Bell.

Talking to IMDB, McDonough discussed the possibilities for appearances in a "Captain America 2," as well as the long-rumored "Nick Fury" movie.

"Yeah, they’re planning (to go into production for) 'Captain America 2' for the end of this year, because Marvel does one film at a time," he said. "So they’re going to do 'Thor 2' and as soon as 'Thor' has wrapped, they’ll do 'Cap 2.' Hopefully right after that, we’ll jump into 'Nick Fury' because that’s the one I’m looking forward to more than anything."

Today was a big day for news on the Marvel movies front, with the first shot of Bucky in "Captain America" hitting the 'net a little while ago, and now a double dose of news regarding "Thor" and "The Avengers."

Last night on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon," Samuel L. Jackson confirmed that his character, Nick Fury, will make a cameo in both "Thor" and "Captain America: The First Avenger."

Despite Jackson's nine-picture contract, Nick Fury's presence in both films was uncertain until now, with a recent, widely circulated report casting doubt on a "Thor" cameo, and the World War II time period of "Captain America" making an encounter with the modern-era Fury unlikely. Read More...

Nick FuryDuring Comic-Con, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige stated that "S.H.I.E.L.D." is under consideration as one of Marvel's first films after "The Avengers."

Several years prior to that, "Castle" creator Andrew W. Marlowe had written a screenplay for "Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D" which was side-stepped by Fury's appearances in "Iron Man," "Iron Man 2" and "The Avengers." However, according to Marlowe, Marvel may still use his script to give Fury his own franchise.

"The guys at Marvel are really smart guys," Marlowe told Movieweb during the San Diego Comic-Con. "They want to use Nick Fury in 'The Avengers' series. The script I wrote was more of the [Jim] Steranko 'Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.' sort of thing. Part of their concern is that Nick has never really carried his own series. There have been limited runs, special editions... and I think what they're hoping to do is educate the mass audience on Nick Fury before they jump into it." Read More...

With two "Iron Man" films already released, "Thor" and "The First Avenger: Captain America" currently in production and "The Avengers" not too far on the horizon, Marvel Studios is building up its slate to a massive crescendo — but what happens after Earth's mightiest heroes assemble on the big screen?

Beyond "Runaways," little is known about Marvel's plans for how to proceed once "The Avengers" lands in theaters. Speaking with MTV News, Marvel studio chief Kevin Feige discussed some of the possible projects they're looking at as follow-ups to the "Avengers" franchise once all's said and done on Iron Man, Thor and Captain America's first big screen team-up. Nick FuryAt the beginning of last year, Samuel L. Jackson signed a long term deal with Marvel Studios to portray Nick Fury in as many as nine films. And after Fury's appearance in "Iron Man 2," Jackson is already set to reprise his role in "The First Avenger: Captain America" and "The Avengers."

However, at the time there was also speculation that Jackson would star in a film based directly around Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D., which Jackson seemed to confirm recently.

During an appearance on Radio Big Boy (via Cinema Blend). Jackson said
“'The Avengers' should start shooting some time next year, and then some time after that there’ll be a big 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' movie.” Read More...

Nick FuryAs comic book fans anxiously await the return of Tony Stark in next week's "Iron Man 2," there's another popular hero readying for a big screen comeback next week as well — none other than S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury.

In an interview with The Los Angeles Times, director Jon Favreau spoke about Fury's elevated role in "Iron Man 2" following Samuel L. Jackson's cameo appearance at the end of the first "Iron Man." While that scene was initially intended as a tribute to the character's comic book resemblance to Jackson, the role has clearly expanded in light of the actor's nine-picture deal with Marvel Studios.

"The idea was just to do this tag, and we thought it would be really fun to get Sam since the comics version of Fury is based on him," said the director. "Now it's become much more than that." Read More...

The Avengers (Ultimates)While there are still a few roles that need to be cast, yesterday's report that actor Chris Evans will play Captain America provides one of the final pieces in a long-developing puzzle that, when completed, will bring together a host of Marvel Studios superheroes for "The Avengers."

Currently scheduled to hit theaters in May 2012, "The Avengers" will team Captain America, Iron Man, Thor and Nick Fury against an unknown enemy (possibly The Hulk) that the heroes must unite to defeat. And though we're still not sure what form that enemy will take, Evans' casting as soldier-turned-superhero Steve Rogers now gives us a pretty good idea how Earth's Mightiest Heroes will look when they arrive on the big screen.

From familiar faces in new roles to unknown actors playing some of the world's most iconic characters, it's time to get to know your Avengers, folks. Read More...

Nick FuryJust last week, word broke via Jon Favreau's never-ending Twitter rampage that Tony Stark and Nick Fury -- the heroic "Iron Man 2" leads played by Robert Downey Jr. and Samuel L. Jackson respectively -- had shot their very first scene of the film together.

Given the two characters' proclivity towards high-octane action -- Tony being a superhero and Nick being a super-spy, after all -- fans got to salivating thinking that these two comic book icons would be back to back trading firepower with renegade HYDRA Agents or similar baddies. Read More...

Scarlett JohanssonThe "Iron Man 2" news keeps coming in, thanks to Jon Favreau's very active Twittering. Today, the director of the "Iron Man" franchise has provided fans with two bits of information sure to get the crowd buzzing -- the first of which involves the film's new female lead.

"Scarlett's first day on set in the Black Widow outfit," the director wrote today. "You've never heard a crew get so quiet so fast." Read More...

'David Hasselhoff'That sound you hear? That's Marvel fandom, still applauding the recent news that Samuel L. Jackson will be appearing as Nick Fury in an unprecedented nine-movie deal with Marvel Films. But as we all know, Jackson came dangerously close to walking away from the "Iron Man" role that he's slowly becoming synonymous with in geek circles.

And while it would be damn-near impossible to replace him, at least we know the actor who played the role of Fury prior to Jackson stood ready and waiting in the wings.

"I know Nick Fury inside and out now, but I've already got my validation," David Hasselhoff told MTV News. The former "Knight Rider" actor, who played the super-spy in 1998's "Nick Fury: Agent of SHIELD" had quite a bit to say about both his time as the cigar-chomping SHIELD chief, as well as his successor.
