Just last week, word broke via Jon Favreau's never-ending Twitter rampage that Tony Stark and Nick Fury -- the heroic "Iron Man 2" leads played by Robert Downey Jr. and Samuel L. Jackson respectively -- had shot their very first scene of the film together.
Given the two characters' proclivity towards high-octane action -- Tony being a superhero and Nick being a super-spy, after all -- fans got to salivating thinking that these two comic book icons would be back to back trading firepower with renegade HYDRA Agents or similar baddies. Read more...
The "Iron Man 2" news keeps coming in, thanks to Jon Favreau's very active Twittering. Today, the director of the "Iron Man" franchise has provided fans with two bits of information sure to get the crowd buzzing -- the first of which involves the film's new female lead.
"Scarlett's first day on set in the Black Widow outfit," the director wrote today. "You've never heard a crew get so quiet so fast." Read more...
That sound you hear? That's Marvel fandom, still applauding the recent news that Samuel L. Jackson will be appearing as Nick Fury in an unprecedented nine-movie deal with Marvel Films. But as we all know, Jackson came dangerously close to walking away from the "Iron Man" role that he's slowly becoming synonymous with in geek circles.
And while it would be damn-near impossible to replace him, at least we know the actor who played the role of Fury prior to Jackson stood ready and waiting in the wings.
"I know Nick Fury inside and out now, but I've already got my validation," David Hasselhoff told MTV News. The former "Knight Rider" actor, who played the super-spy in 1998's "Nick Fury: Agent of SHIELD" had quite a bit to say about both his time as the cigar-chomping SHIELD chief, as well as his successor. MTV News sat down with geek-favorite actor Samuel L. Jackson to talk about his upcoming role in "Soul Men," but given that it's impossible to not bring up his surprise cameo as S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury in "Iron Man," we also had a chance to get some insight from him on where his character is headed within the Marvel Universe and his place among the titans in the upcoming "Avengers" flick.
Check out the video below to get Jackson's predictions on Fury, and if he'll be on board if Marvel should come a'callin' for his talents in other films, such as "Thor" and "Captain America"...
"Should be some little piece of all of that," said Jackson. "I should kinda pass through "Iron Man 2," "Captain America," "Thor," — all those things — and eventually get to that "Avengers" space, yeah. Especially now that they've got Don Cheadle. I know Don'll want me."
To watch more about Jackson's upcoming roles -- or to just bask in his trademarked bad-assedness -- head on over to MTV Movies.

News regarding Marvel's favorite armored hero has been keeping the 'Net buzzing lately, with everyone weighing in on the highly publicized replacement of Terrence Howard with Don Cheadle in the role of Jim Rhodes for "Iron Man 2." While there are still questions surrounding exactly what role Rhodes will play in the film (foremost among them, whether he'll don the "War Machine" armor) there's at least some certainty that the character will be in the film -- but what about Nick Fury?
Last seen in the post-credits clip that had him asking Tony Stark about "The Avenger Initiative," S.H.I.E.L.D.'s main man remains somewhat of an unknown commodity in the "Iron Man" film franchise at this point, with little news about whether -- and if so, to what degree -- he'll be appearing in future films. MTV News spoke with Samuel L. Jackson, the man who not only played Nick Fury in "Iron Man" but also provided the photo-reference for the character in Mark Millar's re-imagined Avengers series, "The Ultimates." Read more...
"Iron Man" director Jon Favreau had plenty to say about the film future of Marvel's armored hero during a live, online Q&A session with fans, including some hints about the storylines that will drive "Iron Man 2," the characters -- both good and bad -- that could make an appearance, and how he feels about the other big superhero movie that hit theaters this year.
"Mandarin is still an important figure in the Iron Man universe," wrote Favreau during the live chat hosted by the LA Times' Hero Complex blog. "We have an interesting take on him that allows us to incorporate the whole pantheon of villains. The whole 10 Rings thing in ['Iron Man'] was a good tease for it."
Later in the chat, when asked by a fan if there was any thought given to introducing a female villain such as Madame Masque, Favreau seemed to spark what's likely to be the next big "Iron Man" rumor, responding, "Female villain... Now there's an interesting notion." Read more...

Samuel L. Jackson had a brief cameo as Marvel Comics character Nick Fury at the end of “Iron Man,” so it would be up to director Jon Favreau if he appears again, right? And we probably won’t see Fury until “The Avengers,” correct?
There are certain questions that superfans think they know the answer to. But when we caught up with Sam the man himself Thursday at Comic-Con, he said we still have a lot to learn about the future of Fury.
“Yeah, I’m looking forward to making that character a bit more integral, in terms of the other stories that are happening,” Jackson told us, revealing that he may have multiple cameos in practically every Marvel movie for the next few years. “’Iron Man 2,’ ‘Captain America,’ ‘Thor,’ and hopefully the big one that’s coming in 2011, when they put everybody together.” Read more...
