Wolverine and Rorschach, two of comics’ grisliest leading men, engage in a war of words in the latest installment of the popular fan-made video series "Hi, I’m a Marvel…And I’m a DC." This time around, series creator ItsJustSomeRandomGuy leverages the "I’m a Mac... and "I’m a PC" template to debate comic book films -- namely "Watchmen" and "Wolverine." Naturally, hilarity ensues.

Heck, if "Wolverine" star Hugh Jackman is already hobnobbing with "Twilight" charmer Robert Pattinson, why shouldn’t his alter-ego step out with another comic book character bringing a big-budget movie to the screen this season? Read More...

For those of us who have done our homework and read "Watchmen," we know that Rorschach prefers to get his news and info from the ultra-conservative news tabloid "The New Frontiersman" (well, that and apparently breaking people's fingers). And today we've learned that Rorschach's rag of choice has gone online with a new website -- www.thenewfrontiersman.net.

While the latest "Watchmen" viral site seems to still be "under construction" (what you see below is what you get when you visit) it's definitely worth bookmarking and checking back regularly -- like, say, early next week -- as we can only assume the Minutemen's cold beans lovin' vigilante will most likely be breaking the evidence seal soon enough. In any case, it's worth taking a look if only to build your own conspiracy theories based on the images you find there (Check out a larger image of the site after the jump). Read More...

RorschachComic book writers and artists are usually all too eager to explain the inspirations behind the heroes they create -- be they Biblical, fictional, historical, or just knock-offs of other comic characters -- and "Watchmen" co-creator Dave Gibbons is no exception. However, for the resident anti-hero in "Watchmen," Rorschach, Gibbons explains that he found heroic inspiration in a rather unlikely duo of historical figures.

"I put him in the same kind of bag as Hitler and Margaret Thatcher -- you might not like them but you can't deny that there's something very attractive about someone who has no grey areas," Gibbons recently related to DigitalSpy. "Just as all the characters are archetypal - there's the Batman equivalent, the feisty female heroine, the Superman - Rorschach is like the gumshoe detective or the masked vigilante taken way out of everyone's comfort zone. The ultimate vigilante where everything is black and white." Read More...

'Watchmen'Throughout the history of comic book films, many actors who portrayed superheroes often said that, once they put on the cape or the mask, they felt like they became that character. For Jackie Earle Haley -- who plays Rorschach in "Watchmen" -- that feeling was no different.

"I remember one of the first days on the set there was a big 18 K light up behind [me]," recalled Haley, "and it was at the cemetery, and I'm getting ready to walk over to the grave, and [director] Zack [Snyder]'s calling roll and I looked down and there's Rorschach's shadow from that 18 K light just perfectly on the ground -- and it's me. I feel like I'm inside the graphic novel and I'm seeing Rorschach's silhouette but I'm not just seeing Rorschach's silhouette, I'm seeing my silhouette and it's Rorschach's! It was just wonderfully empowering." Read More...

Doctor ManhattanWell before the "Watchmen" film was green lit -- and even in the time since -- one of the elements of the original graphic novel that many believed impossible to recreate in live-action form was the near-omnipotent, atom-manipulating Doctor Manhattan. From what we've seen thus far of the "Watchmen" film, Zack Snyder and his crew have done an admirable job with the project, thanks to effects specialists like Alan McFarland, who managed the lighting effects for Doctor Manhattan.

In an interview with UGO, McFarland discussed the motion-capture suit he designed for Billy Crudup, the actor who portrays Dr. Manhattan, which included head-to-toe blue LEDs.

"The purpose of the blue LEDs actually had nothing to do with capturing Billy’s performance-- they were there to supply the blue glow on Dr. Manhattan’s surroundings," explained McFarland. "That creates a much better look for Dr. Manhattan’s blue halo that had it been done entirely in post with CG. Under software control, the brightness of the LEDs could be set to DP Larry Fong’s exact specifications and it would self-monitor to maintain those levels." Read More...

'Seth Green'Since Seth Green -- he of "Robot Chicken," "Family Guy," "Austin Powers," "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" -- is no stranger to geekdom, it should be of no surprise that he is a major fan of comics. He's got one of his own, but he also likes to read "Booster Gold" and "Common Grounds." That's why it would have been a dream come true if he could have had a part in "Watchmen" -- as a certain masked man.

"I would have tried to pull off Rorschach," Green said. (And he's not the only one -- both Jude Law and Simon Pegg also coveted the part.)

Then, looking down at himself, Green admitted, "But I probably don't have the height for it." What about special effects? "I can be 5'6" with lifts, so maybe."

What was it about Rorschach that he wanted to explore? Read More...
