Now that filming for "X-Men: Days of Future Past" has commenced, director Bryan Singer's Twitter feed has become even more lively. A few days ago the director tweeted the first image of Patrick Stewart as Professor X, which came after a Vine video of Ian McKellen and a makeup test of Nicholas Hoult as Beast. It's a good time to be Shawn Ashmore. The actor is at the heart of Fox's new hit thriller "The Following," and he's also about to return to his most iconic role to date: Bobby "Iceman" Drake in "X-Men: Days of Future Past." He's just one of the many X-veterans returning for Bryan Singer's sequel, and Ashmore says he already knows what his part will involve.

And that's just because we have a relationship and had worked together before," Ashmore told IGN. "I just thought, ‘Oh, maybe Bryan would want to bring back some of the people he worked with before.’ Before that I had no idea, and I didn’t theorize too much because that’s when you get your hopes up."

The list of familiar faces returning to the "X-Men" universe keeps growing and growing. The latest names to be added to the cast of "X-Men: Days of Future Past" are sure to make fans of the original trilogy smile: Anna Paquin, Ellen Page and Shawn Ashmore.

Director Bryan Singer confirmed the news on Twitter, as he's done with all major casting announcements surrounding "Days of Future Past" thus far. In his tweet, he thanked "X-Men: The Last Stand" director Brett Ratner for "letting them live," perhaps indicating that the deceased Cyclops and Jean Grey won't be returning for "Days of Future Past" as has been rumored.
