Channing Gambit

by Brett White

In a new interview with Total Film, "White House Down" duo Jamie Foxx and Channing Tatum both open up about a few comic book movies. Yeah, Jamie Foxx does have a few words to say about the possibility of the Sinister Six popping up in a later "Amazing Spider-Man" film, which is something that co-star Paul Giamatti has mentioned as well. "They actually talked about doing the Sinister Six, so fingers crossed," says Foxx. But maybe this shows my X-bias a bit, but the real interesting part of the clip involves Channing Tatum and the charismatic X-Man, Gambit.

"I would like to play Gambit," said Tatum. "Gambit's my favorite, cause I'm from New Orleans—or around that area, my dad's from New Orleans—and I like to do the Cajun accent, and I can do it for real."

Osborn Electro

by Brett White

We already know that "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" is packed with villains like Jamie Foxx's Electro and Paul Giamatti's Rhino, and the film also counts a pair of oftentimes villainous Osborn men as part of its supporting cast—Chris Cooper's Norman and Dane DeHaan's Harry. While the jury's still out as to whether or not all of these villains are heading towards a massive team-up in the already-scheduled "Amazing Spider-Man 3" (Paul Giamatti hinted that it could happen), the big picture is coming a bit more in focus thanks to a new interview with Chris Cooper.

The actor revealed to Access Hollywood that his appearance in "Amazing Spider-Man 2" might just be a prelude to something more. "This is an introduction to Norman Osborn," said Cooper. "And, apparently, this leads to better things in The Amazing Spider-Man 3."

Amazing Spider-Man 2

by Brett White

A whole new batch of "Amazing Spider-Man 2" production photos have been revealed, showing off a couple new shots of Paul Giamatti's pre-Rhino bad guy and Dane DeHaan. Stan Lee even makes another appearance in a photo most likely taken while filming his cameo appearance back in June.

But the real surprise is the appearance of the phrase "Sinister Six" on a wall in one photo. Fans have been speculating for a while now that the Spider franchise is building up to the super villain team up to end all others, but this seems too obvious, right? Could this just be an in-joke or Easter egg? You can check out the pictures after the jump and judge for yourself, and you can find even more pics over at Super Hero Hype

Jim Carrey

by Ryan Rigley

Contrary to Jim Carrey's recent "Kick-Ass 2" promotional protest, it seems as though the anti-violence actor may or may not be portraying one of Peter Parker's most violent villains in the upcoming "Amazing Spider-Man" sequel. Originating on the message boards of Superhero Hype, a rumor has been running rampant all over the Internet that Carrey has a brief appearance in "Amazing Spider-Man 2."

Now a fan picture has surfaced which proves that Jim Carrey was on the "Amazing Spider-Man 2" set back in March. With the majority of the scenes filmed in March taking place at the Ravencroft Institute, fans have begun to speculate as to exactly which mental patient Carrey might be playing. You can check out our guesses after the jump!

Jamie Foxx has been hyping up his "Amazing Spider-Man 2" co-star Dane DeHaan for a while now, urging everybody to "watch out" for him. Now the actor dubbed "dope" by Mr. Foxx—which means a lot coming from the Duke of Dope himself—has spoken to Comic Book Resource's Todd Gilchrist about taking on the role of Harry Osborn in the Spidey sequel.

The actor, who broke out thanks to 2012's found footage super film "Chronicle," spoke about taking on a character with a rich history both onscreen—where he was played for three films by James Franco—and in the comics.

"I think what this version of Spider-Man does is it takes the Spider-Man characters and puts them in modern culture," said DeHaan. "So I started to look at Harry as, how does a person like this exist in modern day culture—and to me, he's a trust fund baby. He grew up in New York City and he uses his wealth to hide his problems, like he almost uses his wealth to buy happiness. And I think there's a big hipster trust-fund baby culture that kind of fits right into that world. So that was kind of my way in, or start in that world."

Spider-Man

by Brett White

If you read into what "Amazing Spider-Man 2" producer Avi Arad had to say about next summer's Spidey film, it seems guaranteed that the wall-crawler will eventually get some super hero help on the big screen.

"I'd rather not answer that at this point," producer Avi Arad told Den of Geek when asked if Spider-Man was destined to fly solo in the series. "This is what the word 'spoiler' means... We want to always leave the audience with a couple of surprises." Director Marc Webb has already said that "Amazing Spider-Man 4" could feature any number of Spider-Friends, so introducing them in "ASM 2" would make sense. Plus, Spider-Man is known for having best buds; he headlined the "Marvel Team-Up" comic book for thirteen years and had a cartoon called "Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends." It's a shame the hero's swung solo in every one of his movies.

With that in mind, here are five heroes we want to see Spider-Man team-up with in his new franchise!

Spider-Man

Is Peter Parker the only superhero swinging around in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," or are there other heroes taking to the streets with him? It sure sounds as if it's a possibility, based on a new interview with the sequel's producers.

"I'd rather not answer that at this point," producer Avi Arad told Den of Geek when asked if another Marvel hero might appear in the "Spider-Man" sequel. "This is what the word 'spoiler' means."

Max Dillon Spider-Man

by Brett White

It was only a matter of time before the "Amazing Spider-Man 2" footage screened at San Diego Comic-Con International leaked—and then it was only a matter of time before the footage got yanked. For fans lucky enough to catch the footage while it was live, you got to see a tinier and grainier version of what a few hundred people got to see on the big screen a few weeks ago. And since filming only wrapped a month ago, it's likely that we won't see a proper trailer for the film until the fall or even winter.

But even with only a few weeks of post-production under their belt, the "ASM2" team has pulled off quite a feat. The four minutes of footage conveys the sequel's new tone and show off plenty of great special effects moments—at least they were great from the phone-quality video that leaked. Check out a rundown of the footage after the jump, which contains spoilers for those of you waiting for the trailer's official release.

Spider-Man

by Brett White

Of all the upcoming superhero movies, "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" has been the not-telling-you-who-this-actor-is-playing-est of them all. Right now, Sarah Gadon, Felicity Jones and Colm Feore are all playing mystery roles. We're also not sure how Goblin-y Chris Cooper and Dane DeHaan will get, and we haven't heard anything else regarding B.J. Novak's quick appearance on-set.

As frustrating as that may be for fans and bloggers alike, director Marc Webb recently revealed to Total Film that that's all part of his masterplan.

"Anything you expect [about who these actors are playing], you'll be surprised," he said. "To be totally honest, I intentionally conceal these things because I want people to be engaged and surprised when they see the film and experience it for the first time. It's not like 'Harry Potter' or 'Twilight' necessarily where you know the stories."

While speaking to Crave Online during last weekend's San Diego Comic-Con International, "Amazing Spider-Man" franchise director Marc Webb revealed some basic—but exciting—information about the other two upcoming installments in the franchise.

"Well, I think this was conceived of as a trilogy so there was a defined architecture to the story we were telling and we had sort of a rough outline of what was going to happen," said Webb. "I think [for] the fourth movie, what we've discovered is there are so many ancillary characters, that have enormous, cinematic potential that there may be other ways to exploit those characters, in a way that is exciting and fun and worthwhile. It might not just be a Spider-Man movie."

Does this mean that some of Spider-Man's friends could pop up when "The Amazing Spider-Man 4" swings into theaters on May 4th, 2018? It looks like it!
