Sometimes a superhero isn't lucky enough to have superpowers, but hey, it never stopped Batman. Even those fortunate enough to have a few tricks up their mythical alloy sleeves can use the help of a great gadget once in a while.

Comic book movie heroes and villains don't always make it out of their films alive. The baddies have a long tradition of biting the bullet by movie's end, but even some of the good guys are likely to go out in glorious fashion. The comic book flicks of 2011 provided more than a few awesome death scenes, but five of them stand above the rest in our eyes.

Here are the Splash Page team's picks for best comic book movie deaths in 2011 — needless to say, spoilers ahead!

Our look at the MTV Movie Awards nominees hailing from the comic book world continues today with the final category featuring some familiar costumed vigilantes.

This time around, "The Green Hornet" actor Jay Chou squares off against "Kick-Ass" actress Chloe Grace Moretz for the title of "Best Breakout Star." Sure, there are a few other nominees in the pool, but let's be honest — we're pulling for a comic book movie sweep of as many categories as possible. First up, it's Kato!

As the film's motorcycle-riding martial artist and mechanic, Chou took on the unenviable task of filling the shoes of original Kato actor Bruce Lee. Chou stepped up to the challenge with a mix of quick wit and even quicker moves, making the best of director Michael Gondry's "Kato Vision" style of fight filming. Read More...

There are just a few days left before the 2011 MTV Movie Awards, and that means time is dwindling for you to cast your votes. Naturally, we're hoping to see a few of the nominees from the last year's comic book movies walk away with trophies, but it's up to you to make that happen!

Yesterday, we introduced you to the sole comics-world nominee from the "Best Fight" category, and now it's time to get acquainted with the "Best Villain" contenders. The two representatives from MTV Splash Page turf are Mickey Rourke as Whiplash in "Iron Man 2" and Christoph Waltz as Chudnofsky (or Bloodnofsky) from "The Green Hornet." Check out some highlights from both their performances below:

In "Iron Man 2," Rourke played a Russian criminal who wreaks havoc on Tony Stark's armor — and his life — after he teams up with Stark's business rival, Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell). Read More...

The Green HornetThis year got off to an explosive start on the comic book movie front, with "The Green Hornet" making its premiere in the first few weeks of 2011 and impressing the heck out of us here at Splash Page HQ.

I'll admit to being a bit skeptical of Michel Gondry's take on the classic pulp hero as played by funnyman Seth Rogen, but between Gondry's unique camera work, Rogen's spin on the character, and the awesome work of Jay Chou as Kato, I was a believer when the end credits began to roll. And now we have all the information on the "Green Hornet" DVD and Blu-Ray — just in case you're looking to add the film to your collection, too.

I've pasted the full "Green Hornet" DVD and Blu-Ray specs below, as provided in the official press release from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Read More...

Green HornetAfter going through years of development and numerous casting and crew changes, director Michel Gondry and Seth Rogen's "The Green Hornet" is finally here.

More than that, "The Green Hornet" is good. Very good, in fact. After catching a screening of the film earlier this week, I walked away much more impressed with the end result than I ever imagined at the outset.

Read on for the five things I enjoyed the most about "The Green Hornet"! Read More...

"The Green Hornet" hits theaters on Friday, and to be honest, we're a little sorry to see it finally hit theaters. After all, it's been one of the most interesting projects to follow over the last two years or so.

From high-profile casting and creative team changes to uncertainty whether it was even going to happen, "The Green Hornet" has offered no small amount of discussion points around the 'net and offline. No one has had to weather more of that controversy than its star and co-writer, Seth Rogen, and his writing partner, Evan Goldberg.

"It's something that my writing partner Evan would constantly have to remind me of throughout the process, in that this is kind of exactly what we thought would happen," Rogen told MTV News. "From the second we thought about doing a movie like this, I remember talking about it like, 'Everyone's going to think it's going to be insane and terrible and we'll just have to keep our heads down and make it, and then it'll come out and slowly people will see that we weren't nuts and that it was actually a good idea.'" "The Green Hornet" has its official premiere this Friday, January 14, but the stars came out earlier this week to celebrate the film's Hollywood premiere.

Among those in attendance were "Green Hornet" stars Seth Rogen, Jay Chou, and Cameron Diaz, as well as a number of other familiar faces walking the red carpet. Oh, and after putting the film to the test on "Mythbusters," the cast of the hit Discovery Channel show turned up on the carpet, too.

The first time we meet the adult Britt Reid — the scion of a Los Angeles media magnate — he's gleefully trashing a hotel, one part Keith Moon-style rock star, one part reality-TV celebutant.

The party boy, of course, will go on to become the superhero who gives "Green Hornet" its name. But in the beginning, Britt is simply a hard-drinking, model-humping, spoiled brat. And, as Seth Rogen explained to MTV News, he and co-writer Evan Goldberg turned to some real-life inspiration to create the character.

"We kind of based him off a male Paris Hilton, as embarrassing as that is to say," he told MTV News. "That is what we looked at — those people who are the sons or daughters of people who have accomplished great things. We probably give them a little more credit than they've gotten in the past and we explore why they're such jerks and why they act out. Maybe it's because they didn't get the attention they wanted."
