Iron Man 2Well, that certainly wasn't much of a surprise. After we asked readers to pick the 2010 comic book movie they're most looking forward to, they voted "Iron Man 2" the overwhelming winner — but not all of the results were as predictable as Tony Stark and War Machine's victory.

In the end, "Iron Man 2" nabbed just over half the total votes, with Matthew Vaughn's "Kick-Ass" and Edgar Wright's "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World" each taking home 11 percent of the vote and sharing the runner-up spot. Both "Jonah Hex" and "Dead of Night" also had decent showings, with the latter receiving 7 percent of the total vote via a big outpouring of fan support and an active write-in campaign. (I'd accidentally left the Brandon Routh-starring film out of the poll.)

AnvilSeth Rogen and Jay Chou may be getting some heavy metal backup from the Oscar-hopeful band Anvil in "The Green Hornet." The group's appearance in the 2010 film appears to have been leaked in an overview of their busy schedule and indie documentary "Anvil! The Story of Anvil." Their recent calendar purportedly included a Conan O'Brien appearance, followed by their movie debut in Michel Gondry's new hero film.

Beware of minor spoilers before reading on, but according to the L.A. Times, Anvil performed in a scene that featured them exploding on stage at a rock club. Read More...

Green HornetEarlier today we got our first semi-blurry glimpse of Seth Rogen in costume as Green Hornet, but we just received a new image that offers a much better look at the actor suited up to fight crime.

Written by Rogen and directed by Michel Gondry ("Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind"), "The Green Hornet" features the "Knocked Up" actor as masked crimefighter Britt Reid, who takes on the criminal element with the assistance of Kato, his partner (played by Jay Chou).

Today's video and photo are some of the first shots we've seen of Rogen and Chou in costume (rather than their stunt doubles), and from what we can tell, Rogen certainly looks to be getting into character as the pulp hero. Read More...

Green HornetAfter all the various difficulties surrounding "The Green Hornet"—the production, not the character, though there should be plenty of difficulties ahead for him in the film's story—it's almost surprising that the movie is actually going forward.

But if you still can't believe that "Green Hornet" is going forward, would a glimpse of the masked crimefighter himself convince you?

Splash News Online has posted a behind-the-scenes video on "The Green Hornet," director Michel Gondry's adaptation of the classic pulp icon. The video, which offers an interesting look at the movie's production process, debuts the very first look at Seth Rogen (or possibly his stunt double) in costume as the Hornet. Read More...

Edward James OlmosBack in August fans learned that "Battlestar Galactica's" Edward James Olmos had joined the ranks of Seth Rogen, Cameron Diaz, Jay Chou and Christoph Waltz to star in Michel Gondry's "The Green Hornet." One question remained, however. Just what kind of role would the sometime William Adama be taking on?

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Olmos revealed he'd be playing Michael Axford, a reporter for the Daily Sentinel, the newspaper run by protagonist Britt Reid's father James. Read More...

Nicolas CageNicolas Cage's departure from "The Green Hornet" created quite a bit of buzz last week, but it was followed up by unconfirmed reports this week that "Inglourious Basterds" actor Christoph Waltz was in talks to replace Cage as the film's villain.

While promoting his upcoming film "Bad Lieutenant, Port of Call: New Orleans" at the Toronto International Film Festival, Cage opened up about the reasons he made such an abrupt exit from Seth Rogen and Michel Gondry's film.

"'The Green Hornet' was something that I wanted to do, I think Michel Gondry is very talented and I had hoped it would work but I think Seth Rogen and Michel had a different take on the character," Cage told The Canadian Press. Read More...

Christoph Waltz"Inglourious Basterds" actor Christoph Waltz, whose role as a Nazi in Quentin Tarantino's violent World War II-era film is expected to earn him an Oscar nod, is being rumored for part of the chief villain in Seth Rogen and Michel Gondry's "Green Hornet"—a role Nicolas Cage left behind just last week.

According to Deadline Hollywood, Waltz has been cast as Chudnofsky, the gangster who goes up against Green Hornet and his partner, Kato.

Back in July, Rogen described the character to MTV News as "scary," but "not over-the-top." Read More...

Nicolas CageNicolas Cage is well-known as a comic book fan—after all, his stage name is derived from none other than Luke Cage—but perhaps Cage isn't quite as big a fan of Seth Rogen's favorite comics.

The "Kick-Ass" actor has long been in talks to star alongside Rogen, Jay Chou and Cameron Diaz in "The Green Hornet," the adaptation of the pulp icon directed by Michel Gondry. According to the Hollywood Reporter, however, those talks are over—and Cage will not appear in the film.

The most recent indicator that something wasn't right regarding Cage's casting came in the form of a press release signaling the beginning of production on "Hornet." While the announcement confirmed the casting of Diaz, Chou, Edward James Olmos and even the as-yet-mentioned Tom Wilkinson, it specifically noted that Nicolas Cage was still in negotiations for the movie. Green HornetTwo different sites have posted new images from the set of Seth Rogen and Michel Gondry's "Green Hornet," including the first look at Kato, the Green Hornet's partner.

Over on SuperHeroHype, they posted the first set of photos from the set, featuring Cameron Diaz, Seth Rogen and director Michel Gondry. The images all seem to be captured via a webcam or something along those lines, and offer a nice little behind-the-scenes gallery. The site later posted another set of images from the project, including shots of Jay Chou's stunt double in costume as Kato.

Meanwhile, Just Jared has posted a large gallery of photos from the set of "Green Hornet," including several different shots of cast members filming the same set of scenes in the previous gallery. According to the site, the scene being filmed is a press conference during which Rogen's character, Britt Reid, is shot in the shoulder. Read More...

TronEarlier this week, Seth Rogen's "Green Hornet" received a release date of December 17, 2010. Today, it has some big competition.

Disney announced this morning that it's tagged the same Dec. 17 date for the much-anticipated "Tron: Legacy" to appear in theaters. The move puts the film up against Rogen's long-awaited take on the classic pulp hero, which was originally scheduled to premiere in July 2010, but was officially pushed back this week.

The pairing should provide an interesting battle for the weekend's box office, with both films based on pre-existing properties. At first glance, "Tron" has the edge in geek cred (and heavy amounts of buzz), but "Green Hornet" features a top-tier cast including writer/actor Rogen front and center. Read More...
