Frank Miller's big-screen adaptation of the classic Will Eisner series "The Spirit" hits DVD and Blu-Ray tomorrow (April 14) from Lionsgate Home Entertainment, and both formats are packed with special features -- including the never-before-seen alternate ending to the film. At the risk of playing spoiler, we have the exclusive storyboard animation of that aforementioned alternate ending, as narrated by The Spirit himself, Gabriel Macht.

Back in February, we gave you the scoop on the DVD and Blu-Ray specs for "The Spirit," so if you're planning to add Frank Miller's take on Eisner to your collection, you can pick up "The Spirit" tomorrow for $39.99 (Blu-Ray), $34.98 (2-Disc DVD Special Edition) or $29.95 (DVD).

Oh, and if you're looking for even more of Eisner's hero, remember that the adventures of "The Spirit" continue in comic form every month, folks!

Planning to pick up "The Spirit"? What do you think of the alternate ending? Sound off in the comment section!

Samuel L. JacksonWhat do "Batman," "Superman," "Akira," "Hellboy," "The Hulk," "Iron Man," "The Punisher," "Spider-Man," "The Spirit," "Dragonball," "Wanted," "Transformers," "X-Men" and "Watchmen" all have in common? Easy!

It's no secret that the comic-to-movie translation can be hit or miss. On one hand, you have someone like the Punisher — one of the most intense, complex and dark characters ever created in the comic book universe — so you would have thought his story and swagger alone would be enough to make a great action movie with maybe even a good sequel. Apparently not! The movie studios messed up that franchise not once ... not twice ... but three times (once with Dolph Lundgren, then Thomas Jane and most recently with some guy called Ray Stevenson).

But then, on the other hand, we all know the $1 billion story of "The Dark Knight," not to mention "Iron Man," which totally revived Robert Downey Jr.'s career.

'The Spirit'This week, the producers of Frank Miller's big-screen adaptation of "The Spirit" return to Will Eisner's classic hero with a three-part story that kicks off in issue #26 of DC's ongoing "The Spirit" comic book series -- but this time, their focus will be on the hero's notorious femme fatales. MTV News sat down for a chat with film and comics veteran Michael Uslan and his longtime creative partner F.J. DeSanto to discuss their upcoming run on "The Spirit" and why an examination of the series' leading ladies is way past due.

"This is the most daunting, challenging, terrifying thing I have ever done in my career," said Uslan of taking the reins on DC's "The Spirit" series -- no throwaway remark, given Uslan's role as producer of all the various Batman movies (as well as many other comics-inspired films of the last few decades) and his long list of comics writing credits.

"To me, The Spirit is the greatest creative work ever to come out of the comic book industry," Uslan told MTV News. (Read on for more from Uslan and DeSanto on their three-part story arc in "The Spirit.") Read more...

'The Spirit'It feels like just yesterday we were telling you about this upcoming film based on Will Eisner's "The Spirit" comics, but time flies when you're covering the goings-on in the comics and movie scenes.

The last we heard from "The Spirit" crew, they were discussing the sequel potential for Frank Miller's interpretation of Eisner's classic character and his universe. Now, we have all the specs for the film's April 14 release on DVD and Blu-Ray posted after the jump -- including an alternate ending for the film and the debut of "Lionsgate Live" online elements. What a world, eh? Read more...

Here we are, just a day away from the December 25 release of "The Spirit," and naturally, we're already asking about a sequel (because, let's face it, it's never to early to start talking sequel). So, when MTV had the chance to talk with "The Spirit" co-stars Gabriel Macht and Eva Mendes, we decided to see if they thought a follow-up to this Christmas' latest offering to the superhero film genre would be worth it.

While Macht seemed to be ready for it, Mendes had a different point of view. Check out the video below to see what the two stars had to say:

What do you think, readers? Would you like to see a sequel to "The Spirit," or is one film enough? We wanna know what you think in the comments.

T-minus two days and counting until "The Spirit" hits theaters, and Splash Page couldn't be more excited to see Will Eisner's classic comic character make the leap from pulp to cinema. However, when "The Spirit" co-stars Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson recently sat down for a chat with MTV's Joshua Horowitz, the conversation just so happened to shift to another, highly-anticipated Frank Miller vehicle, "Sin City 2," as well as a different film Miller might have in the works post-"Spirit."

Frank Miller... on a western?! That sound you hear is the rumor mill cranking at full speed, readers!

'The Spirit' by Will EisnerWe've been giving quite a bit of real estate to "The Spirit" lately in anticipation of this Thursday's release of the film -- so much so, in fact, that you probably know all there is to know about the film without actually seeing it! From the reading habits of its stars to Samuel L. Jackson's Octopus wardrobe, and more posters and publicity photos than you can shake a red necktie at, it's been hard to contain our interest in "The Spirit."

While we've already delivered a heap of get-excited quotage from "The Spirit" director Frank Miller, we're always interested in more from the iconic comic book writer/artist-turned-big budget Hollywood auteur -- especially when he's talking funnybooks. Thankfully, SuperHeroHype has our hook-up today, with an extensive, in-depth Miller interview about his relationship with "Spirit" creator (and war hero), Will Eisner, and the lessons learned from him. 'The Spirit' Visual CompanionThanks to advance screenings, we're already getting reviews on Frank Miller's solo-directorial debut on "The Spirit," and like most films based on comics, this one looks like it's clearly gonna divide the fanboys out there into "love it" or "hate it" camps. Yet regardless of whether viewers take to "The Spirit," one thing we can all agree on is Miller has continued his tradition of giving moviegoers an utterly unique-looking film, and the fine folks at Titan Books have delivered a stunning new book celebrating Miller's vision, "The Spirit: The Movie Visual Companion," by Mark Cotta Vaz.

The book takes fans through each and every aspect of the filming process, from the comics to the final product, and features exclusive interviews with the cast and crew, tons of behind-the-scenes photos and art, as well as never-before-seen storyboards drawn by Miller himself.

And lucky for us, Titan has offered us a first glimpse at some of the costume designs featured in the book that's a must-have for an fan of "The Spirit" -- which you can check out after the jump! Read more...

We're getting closer and closer to the wide release of "The Spirit," and we here at Splash Page couldn't be more excited to see Will Eisner's classic comic hero come alive with a healthy dose of Frank Miller grit. So, when MTV sat down with stars Eva Mendes and Gabriel Macht, we could barely contain ourselves from talkin' comics with the stars -- from "The Spirit" to "Watchmen," and even "Ghost Rider" manages to come up in conversation.

Check out what the two had to say in the following video:

So, what do you think of Macht and Mendes' comments? Do you think reading the comics are important when taking on a role, or do they have the right idea? Talk it up in the comments.

The SpiritWe've heard quite a bit about the ladies of "The Spirit," had a chance to get Frank Miller's take on his solo-directorial debut, and naturally, Samuel L. Jackson has gotten plenty of face time concerning the production, yet we've heard very little from the actual star of the film, Gabriel Macht (who plays Denny Colt, a.k.a. The Spirit).

However, it looks like the fine folks at Sci Fi Wire have caught on to this and hooked up an extensive interview with the star of this Christmas' noir superhero flick, who was quick to point out that, when it came to the source material, he had quite a bit of catching up to do...albeit with a little help from a comic book icon in Miller.

"I went out and bought 'The Best of The Spirit,' which has the color versions of the old comics," said Macht in the Sci Fi Wire story. "When I came to visit with Frank, he said, 'So, what have you done?' And I said, 'Well, I've immersed myself in The Best of...' He goes, 'No, no, no, no. I'm not a fan of the coloring that they did for those comics. Let me give you my picks.' So he gave me a massive binder of his favorite Will Eisner work, but all in black and white." Read more...
