TinTin - Steven SpielbergA new image from the set of "The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn" has popped up online at a Spanish-language movie site, and while it doesn't offer anything in the way of story details, it does feature director Steven Spielberg in a bowler hat.

Based on the beloved comic strip with a global (and loyal) fanbase, "Tintin" is the first of a planned film franchise that will chronicle boy journalist Tintin's globe-trotting adventures. Peter Jackson is serving as producer on the first film, with Spielberg in the director's chair. The pair will reverse their roles for the sequel.

You can check out the full photo at this English-translated mirror of Estrenos deCine.

"Tintin" stars Daniel Craig, Simon Pegg, Andy Serkis and Nick Frost, and hits U.S. theaters December 23, 2011.

Iron ManTypically, the stuntman's role is to make the big action scenes look dangerously bad-ass, not to talk about the film itself. But "Iron Man 2" and "The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn" stunt choreographer Garrett Warren isn't your typical stuntman—he's got a whole lot to say, and comic book fans might want to listen up.

Warren spoke with Movieline about his work on both upcoming comic book films, which involved stuntwork on behalf of Mickey Rourke's villainous Whiplash in "Iron Man 2."

While many of his comments were innocent, some of them did reveal some interesting information about the whip-clad baddie. Read more...

In town to promote this weekend's debut of "District 9," filmmaker Peter Jackson shared some details about another project he's serving as producer for—and the sequel that he'll be getting behind the camera to direct.

TintinHas America scorned Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson, or have they scorned America? While there aren't any obvious offenses that come to mind, there appears to be a grudge on a surface level at least -- because United States theatergoers are going to be among the last ones to see their epic "Tintin" film!

Paramount Pictures and Sony Pictures Entertainment announced today that "The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn" will hit stateside theaters on December 23, 2011 -- almost two full months after the film is released everywhere else in the world. Read more...

Simon Pegg"Star Trek" cast newcomer Simon Pegg will have another established audience to please when Steven Spielberg & Peter Jackson’s "The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn" comes to theaters in 2010. Pegg appears undaunted by the skeptical mumbles he's heard, however, and left recent shots for the film impressed by the special effects process used to turn him and his fellow on-screen twin Nick Frost into nearly identical characters based on motion-capture work.

"We shot earlier this year, here in L.A.," Pegg told Collider.com. "Fascinating experience just in terms of how it worked."

The "Shaun of the Dead" star laughed off doubts he originally read about the movie and explained exactly how he and Frost became the Thomson and Thompson twins for the new film franchise based on the internationally renowned comics by Belgian creator Hergé. Read more...

'Tintin'A couple of weeks back, we brought you the report that acclaimed director Steven Spielberg had finished a month of "performance-capture shooting" for "The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn," and was shipping his work off to his partner (but not "co-director") on the project, Peter Jackson (he of the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy fame). Yet while a Spielberg/Jackson team-up could basically be considered "geek crack," the question remains: how do two insanely-acclaimed directors work together on such a project, not to mention the fact that their home-bases are literally half a world away?

Those questions were answered today in a rather informative piece in the Los Angeles Times, which looked at the process of filming the first in a planned series of three films based on the classic European comics character, and also updated fans anxiously anticipating Tintin et Milou's big-screen debut on the status of the film. 'Tintin'After wrapping up 32 days of "performance-capture lensing" for “Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn,” director Steven Spielberg will hand off the film for post-production duties to producer Peter Jackson (“Lord of the Rings”).

According to Variety, Spielberg's performance-capture lensing would seem to be the equivalent of principal photography on the film, but the relatively new motion-capture technology in use for the rest of "Tintin" will be handled by Jackson at his special effects studio in New Zealand.

Spielberg will hold the lone directing credit on the film -- an interesting note, given that his primary duties last just over a month, while Jackson's post-production editing, special effects and other responsibilities are expected to take at least 18 months to complete. Read more...

Tintin"The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn" already has a an A-list director and a formidable cast that includes Daniel Craig, Simon Pegg, Andy Serkis and Nick Frost. Now, it appears that Steven Spielberg’s “Tintin” will have a five-time Oscar winner writing its music. Legendary composer John Williams’ representative at the Gorfaine-Schwartz Agency has confirmed that he has signed on to the film.

“Tintin” will be Williams’ 24th film with Spielberg, according to Upcoming Film Scores, who announced the news. The 77-year-old will join a colossally ambitious new film franchise that is reportedly already courting Peter Jackson to direct its sequel, though “Secret of the Unicorn” isn’t schedule to hit theaters until 2011. Daniel CraigFROM MOVIES BLOG: James Bond actor Daniel Craig has officially signed on as the pirate Red Rackham in the newly titled "The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn," joining the previously-announced Jamie Bell as the boy reporter Tintin, Andy Serkis as Captain Haddock and Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as Thomson and Thompson. But wait, there's more: In addition to Steven Moffat (of "Doctor Who" fame), Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish have come aboard as writers.

Rope of Silicon has the news that should please current "Tintin" fans and, hopefully, excite even those cynical about the project.

'Tintin'Steven Spielberg's adaptation of the classic 'Tintin' comics isn't having an easy time making it to the big screen. Production is only a month away, but the film lacks all but one cast member: Andy Serkis as Captain Haddock. But Ain't It Cool News is reporting that the film finally has a grand total of three cast members -- and the newest additions are as close to geek gods as you can get: Nick Frost and Simon Pegg.

Frost and Pegg will play the Thomson and Thompson twins, two men who are identical on the page except for the curl of their moustaches. As the film is using motion capture technology, it will be easy to actually make them resemble each other. But who wants to bet Spielberg will stray from the comic page, and allow their true looks to shine through? Why cast Pegg and Frost unless you want them to, well, be themselves? Read more...
