The Walking DeadThe second season of "The Walking Dead" is currently filming in Atlanta, which means we only have a few more months to wait before AMC's hit series returns.

One person who's certainly going to be busy between now and the Season Two premiere is "The Walking Dead" creator Robert Kirkman, who serves as executive producer and writer on the television series, while also scripting the monthly adventures of Rick Grimes in the comic book that inspired the series.

Along with all of his responsibilities on "The Walking Dead," Kirkman is also pairing up with veteran creator (and Deadpool co-creator) Rob Liefeld for The Infinite, a new comic book series about a man who travels back in time to enlist his younger self in a battle against a supervillain. MTV News managed to slip a few questions to Kirkman about the next season of "The Walking Dead" and The Infinite. Read More...

Last week, we brought you the news that McFarlane Toys had picked up the license to produce action figures based on "The Walking Dead" television series and comic books. We also gave you an exclusive peek at the prototype for the Michonne figure set to be released in the first wave of "The Walking Dead" toys.

During this weekend's Toy Fair 2011 convention, MTV News chatted up McFarlane Toys founder Todd McFarlane — no stranger to comics himself — to get more details about "The Walking Dead" line.

"['The Walking Dead'] was a giant success for AMC," McFarlane told MTV News. "To me, 'The Walking Dead' has been in my life for years and years and years, because we've been doing the comic books [at Image Comics]." Read More...

Spirited AwayKevin Smith didn't need to buy his film "Red State" at Sundance over the weekend to grab headlines. He already had a group of protestors from the Westboro Baptist Church helping him out on that front, and a few tweeters in the feed had some suggestions for the folks holding the picket signs.

Sadly, the death of fitness diehard Jack LaLanne also trended last night. You can check out who remembered him and which artist called him a personal fitness guru down below. It's all there after the jump along with football reactions and an Avengers-related issue that Christos Gage needs some help with.

Cowboys and Aliens trailerI'm going to go out on a limb and guess that Alan Moore could not have cared less about the "Green Lantern" and "Cowboys and Aliens" trailers that premiered in time for his birthday this week, but a handful of creators in our feed cared enough about him to celebrate his birthday with posts. Gene Ha summed up the day's significance nicely.

As for Jon Favreau's new movie, the first clips to show up in public got a warm welcome broadly. There are some skeptics, though, and Kevin Colden was among them. Check out whose side you're on and photographic evidence of what could happen to you if you try drawing "Ant-Man and the Wasp" near Mike Norton.

Todd McFarlane's plans to bring "Spawn" back to the animated world are still materializing, as the comic book creator recently told us that the project is undergoing various animation and technology tests through different studios.

But even as certain aspects of the "Spawn" series are getting ironed out, there's one thing that McFarlane says the fans can count on: just like the last animated series that aired on HBO, this latest "Spawn" adaptation will absolutely retain its edgy status as a mature audience series.

"Absolutely," McFarlane told MTV News when asked whether or not the new series would preserve the old show's dark tone. "We're gong to a cable network, and that's their bread and butter." Read More...

It's been a while since I caught up with Spawn creator Todd McFarlane to discuss his plans for a brand new animated series based on the popular antihero. With issue #200 of the "Spawn" comic book series on the way, the character has achieved a level of success shared by few properties hailing from the indie side of the comics world — and that's not even counting the live-action "Spawn" movie in 1997 and award-winning HBO animated series that ran from 1998-99.

Last time I spoke to McFarlane, he outlined his plans to bring Spawn back to the animated world this year, once several legal issues had settled out and allowed him to shop the project around Hollywood. When I snagged some time with the veteran creator during New York Comic Con, he offered a status update of sorts on Spawn's return to television.

"We've been in contact with different studios and now we're doing tests on various technology that will hopefully get me to where I want visually," said McFarlane. "Here's the balancing act on the animation: How do we make it as cool as heck, but still be able to do it in a financial manner that we can do it every half-hour weekly?" Read More...

Dark Ages SpawnErik Larsen weighed in yesterday on Neil Gaiman's recent court dealings with Todd McFarlane over disputed character rights related to "Spawn," and both Gaiman and McFarlane have since posted their own opinions on the matter, prompting another response from Larsen.

Meanwhile, Twitter was fluttering with Bill Cosby death rumors yesterday. Mike Benson expressed relief when those subsided, though the comics and entertainment industry in general mourned the loss of Superman and James Bond screenwriter Tom Mankiewicz. Geoff Johns in particular noted his passing. Find out what he said after the jump where you'll also see a "Lone Wolf and Cub" casting pick from Chris Weston.

Comic-Con Odin's throneIf you weren't able to grab a flight out to Comic-Con International in San Diego this year, Twitter makes for a fine alternative. The show opened up for its annual Preview Night Wednesday, and nearly everyone present from the Twitter Report feed had an opinion, a picture or both. Marvel's recently anointed senior VP of creator and content development C.B. Cebulski posed for a shot in Odin's throne, which is on display there along with Thor's hammer. Eric Powell, meanwhile, wandered over to the "Walking Dead" exhibition, and David Petersen was working on a Severus Snape commission.

Various lost things were found as well, such as a "Tron" press manual and $40 in the middle of the street, judging from Cameron Stewart and R. Stevens' respective tweets. Mark Waid unfortunately was busy working, but he would appreciate it if you had a chance to pick up one of the con's Starro exclusives for him. All of these adventures and more await you below.

Andrew GarfieldThe long search for an actor to play Peter Parker is over. Andrew Garfield is the new Spider-Man, and everyone's talking about it — especially comic book creators.

In the wake of last night's big casting news, I reached out to some of the notable writers, artists, and editors who have worked on Marvel's friendly neighborhood webslinger at one point or another to get their take on the 26-year-old actor landing the role.

What do they think of the actor's Spidey-aptitude? What will he need to bring to the role? Here's what some of our favorite Spider-Man creators had to say about the news. Read More...

Sam and Twitch"Spawn" creator Todd McFarlane has made no secret of his desire to bring his long-running comic back to the big screen. However, he may have other ambitions for "Sam & Twitch," a pair of police detectives who were originally supporting characters in "Spawn."

During a recent interview with Comic Book Resources, McFarlane indicated that he and "a big time producer" are in the process of of developing a "Sam & Twitch" TV series. "It would be an hour-long drama with a little bit of the mystique stuff in it," said McFarlane. "At times, we've gone in and pitched it as sort of 'Hill Street Blues' meets 'The X-Files' without it being that crazy and that obvious."

"It's not that kind of stuff," continued McFarlane. "It's the stuff where you go, 'The room was locked and the windows were locked and everything was locked from the outside. Somebody couldn't get out, but we found a dead body on the 21st floor and the autopsy says that they drowned to death, and by the way, it's salt water. What the hell does that mean?" Read More...
