There's really not much to write after a headline like that, is there? Sure, you can offer the "why," "where" and "when," but it's almost better just to leave it at "Hugh Jackman and the Wolverine Blow-Up Doll" and move on. Trust me—that's the subject of the e-mail I received with the photo, and I'm stickin' with it.
However, for those of you who do want to know why the "Wolverine" star was seen with what looks to be a large, blow-up (or possibly paper mache—I've never been the arts-and-crafts type) figure of his "X-Men" movie character, keep reading. I warn you, though: It's not as fun as the story you're imagining right now. Read more...
"X-Men Origins: Wolverine" director Gavin Hood did his homework on Logan's character and history when he set to work on the film. Much of that history, however, includes excessive cigar chomping. Those same smoking habits became an editorial target at Marvel after editor-in-chief Joe Quesada came to power and tobacco use has since been discouraged throughout their titles. Wolverine did enjoy the occassional cigar in Hood's film, however, earning a negative reaction from the American Medical Association Alliance. Fox followed suit with a special anti-smoking public service announcement on this week's DVD release of the movie, and Hood expressed a personal interest in its inclusion.
"My biggest fan on this movie is my nephew, who's 12 years old," Hood told MTV News. "You certainly don't want for that audience or any audience to suggest that smoking is cool, given what we now know about smoking, which was not the case 40 years ago when the comic book character was created." Wolverine seems to be spending an awful lot of time getting manicures these days.
Last week, we gave you a gallery of photos taken during a "manicure" of the wax Wolverine statue created in Hugh Jackman's image, and now Marvel's clawed mutant is at it again. The ridiculously realistic statue will spend Labor Day Weekend in New York City's Madame Tussauds wax museum before heading off to Dallas and finally, Los Angeles. The cross-country tour culminates with the statue's arrival at Madame Tussauds Hollywood on September 15, the same day "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" hits shelves on DVD and Blu-Ray.
Click on the image below for a gallery of photos from today's "manicure" session with the wax Wolverine in Times Square:

"He's the very first of the X-Men to be immortalized in wax," said Chris Bess, head of communications for Madame Tussauds Hollywood. Read more...
Every now and then, some images pop up on the wire that demand to be shared. I have to admit, a batch of recent photographs featuring Hugh Jackman as his "Wolverine" alter ego had me doing the ol' double-take once I realized that the clawed mutant in the photos is actually, well... made of wax.
Go ahead and see for yourself (click on the image below for more photos of the wax Wolverine):

Attendees at this year's Comic-Con in San Diego might recognize the wax version of Jackman as Wolverine, as the statue made its debut at the massive convention back in July. According to the photos, it's now receiving a last-minute makeover before heading off to its final destination: Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum in Hollywood.
For more information on the statue, head over to Madame Tussaud's website.

With all of last week's "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" sequel news, we asked readers who they'd most like to see in the follow-up to this year's solo debut for Hugh Jackman and his Marvel Comics character.
After all the ballots were counted, the top two characters were separated by less than a dozen votes, and both of them seem more than up to the task of taking on Wolverine when he heads to Japan—or anywhere else, for that matter. Here's how the poll broke down, and why the votes went the way they did, according to readers:
Tentacled Russian villain Omega Red won the poll with 33 percent of the total votes, but recurring Wolverine foe Silver Samurai was close behind with 32 percent of the final tally. With Wolverine originally making his debut in a brawl with the Hulk, Marvel's Green Goliath also managed a respectable number of votes, and smashed his way to 18 percent of the total. Read more...
On paper, the pairing of award-winning writer Warren Ellis ("Transmetropolitan") with Japanese animation studio Madhouse ("Death Note") on a series of anime projects featuring high-profile Marvel characters seems like the perfect combination of comic book and anime fandom. On the screen, it looks even better.
The four-series anime project was announced during Comic-Con at a panel hosted by Ellis, and now the "Iron Man" and "Wolverine" trailers shown during the event have finally hit the 'Net.
After you check out the footage from the "Iron Man" anime above, be sure to give the "Wolverine" trailer a peek after the jump. Read more...
Nicktoons' animated "Wolverine And The X-Men" series continues to be a hit among kids and comic book lovers alike, and in the next volume of the series to hit DVD (arriving on shelves today), Logan squares off against the foe that first introduced him to the comics world: The Hulk.
Titled "Wolverine and the X-Men: Deadly Enemies," the latest collection of the animated series includes five episodes that feature everyone from Nightcrawler and Gambit to the villainous Shadow King and (my personal favorite) Mojo. And then there's that aforementioned brawl with the green goliath -- which, as you can see in the clip below, offers a nice nod to the blue-and-yellow "whiskered" costume Wolverine wore when he made his debut in the now-classic 1974 issue of "The Incredible Hulk."
Nice use of grenades, eh? After the jump, get the lowdown on all the "Deadly Enemies" DVD specs. Read more...
This shouldn't come as much of a surprise to longtime followers of Marvel's mutant community, but it seemed worth a post here -- if only to confirm what we've all thought about the love lives of the men and women of the X-Men universe.
Over at UncannyXMen.net, they've assembled a diagram of who's been "more than friends" with whom, and where those relationships fall on the scale of simple flirtation, one-night stand or long-term commitment. While Wolverine's promiscuity was pretty much a given, it's interesting to see where some of Marvel's other mutants have made their booty calls, and how much of a mess alternate realities can make out of a character's love life. Yes, it’s Canada Day, faithful readers! And that means it’s time to celebrate her super-heroes. Some of you might not realize this, but our neighbors to the North have delivered quite a few interesting heroes over the years. So, for your enjoyment, here's a list of five of our favorites.
CAPTAIN CANUCK: Though many American readers might not be familiar with the character, Captain Canuck has a strong fan-base behind him. Introduced in 1975, Tom Evans was an agent of the Canadian International Security Organization who was later given enhanced strength and speed by aliens. The C.I.S.O. funded Evans to become the anti-terrorist superhero Captain Canuck and his adventures were published sporadically over the next several years. He was even featured on the front page of the Los Angeles Times in 1980. Read more...
Getting his own summer blockbuster this year with "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" just wasn't enough for Marvel Comics' resident quick-healing mutant. Wolverine now joins Wonder Woman, Superman and Batman, and creator-turned-DKNY-designer Paul Pope among the faces in comics to be inspirations for stylized apparel as Nike releases some brightly colored sneakers that pay tribute to his original costume design.
In fact, both Wolverine and his frisky nemesis Sabretooth, recently portrayed by Liev Schreiber, have their own sneaker packs available now. Read more...
