Justice League

Through more than a decade of work, voice actress Susan Eisenberg has become the definitive voice of Wonder Woman over multiple "Justice League" cartoon series and straight-for-DVD releases. She returns as Diana Prince in the upcoming "Justice League: Doom," which looks like yet another success in DC's long line of animated adaptations. "Doom" modifies the famous "Tower of Babel" JLA comic book storyline into something more expansive, replacing Ra's al Ghul with an entire Legion of Doom to use Batman's contingency plans against the Justice League.

In anticipation of the movie's release, Eisenberg gave an extensive interview in which she touched on all things DC-related.

Wonder Woman

With all the superhero films hitting the big screen, many feel it’s time to make a Wonder Woman movie. “Drive” director Nicolas Winding Refn has made it clear he’s interested in making a movie about Diana Prince, and current "Wonder Woman" creative team Brian Azzarello and Cliff Chiang recently weighed in on the character's film prospects as well.

Of course, how can we forget that “Avengers” director Joss Whedon once took a shot at a big-screen "Wonder Woman" movie? Even though he's spending his time with Earth's Mightiest Heroes at the moment, he hasn't forgotten his vision for "Wonder Woman."

Wonder Woman

Batman has had terrific success in Hollywood and Superman's about to give it another go with "Man of Steel" in 2013, but it just hasn't worked out for Wonder Woman, the third pillar of DC Entertainment's trinity of heroes. The Amazon warrior's path towards theaters has been a complicated one, with recent attempts at revitalizing the character through animation and live-action television failing for numerous reasons.

What is it about Wonder Woman that makes her so difficult to handle on the big screen? The answer, according to current "Wonder Woman" scribe Brian Azzarello and artist Cliff Chiang, isn't an easy one.

Wonder WomanNicolas Winding Refn has been talking about his desire to direct a “Wonder Woman” movie since back when putting Megan Fox in the role sounded like a reasonable idea (that’d be last summer for those of you keeping track). But now, the director of “Bronson” and the upcoming “Drive” claims that the film might actually happen.

Following a London screening of “Drive,” Refn took to the floor to answer questions, and fortunately, The Playlist was there to report back with some of the highlights. During the Q&A, the Danish director spoke about the possibility of “Wonder Woman,” and even named an actress he’d like to cast in the lead.

“I would love to make ‘Wonder Woman.’ And I also think that Christina Hendricks would be the perfect Wonder Woman, but Warner Bros. haven’t called yet,” he explained. “But I’m getting closer with ‘Logan’s Run.’ I think someone said to me in a meeting that if I get ‘Logan’s Run’ right, then I’ll get ‘Wonder Woman’.”

Christina HendricksThe “Wonder Woman” television show was unable to launch, but a potential “Wonder Woman” movie remains a possibility. Danish director, producer and writer Nicolas Winding Refn ("Bronson") has had his eye on the project for some time, and he knows what actress he’d like to have star in it.

Speaking to New York Magazine at the U.S. premiere of his new movie, "Drive," Refn said that he wants "Mad Men" actress Christina Hendricks for the role. Hendricks was also in “Drive” and has already been mentioned in some “Wonder Woman” rumors.

“If I ever get to do [the “Wonder Woman” movie], she's going to be it,” Refn said about the redheaded actress. Read More...

Wonder WomanThe "Wonder Woman" television series might never find its way to the small screen, but I'm probably not alone in looking forward to the inevitable online debut — official or otherwise — of the show's pilot episode. Until then, however, we'll have to make do with snippets of footage like the one that popped up on the 'net today.

The short, seven-second "Wonder Woman" teaser was posted by Bleeding Cool, and features a brief scene of Adrianne Palicki in costume walking toward the camera. The teaser opens and closes with the "Wonder Woman" logo.

While there's not a lot there, it's our first look at any real footage from the ill-fated project, which NBC passed on last month. Read More...

Wonder womanAfter the announcement that NBC rejected the “Wonder Woman” television series, there's been much speculation as to the reasons, with speculation pointing toward lukewarm reviews at test screenings and internet complaints. NBC chief Robert Greenblatt recently offered a bit more information about the decision to pass on the series.

In an interview with TV Guide about NBC’s fall season, “Wonder Woman” was brought up at the very end of a conversation with Greenblatt, who explained why the series didn’t pan out.

“They did a great pilot and worked really hard on it,” Greenblatt replied. “And I have huge respect for David E. Kelley. But we looked at the schedule and our needs and where things were falling into place. And it just didn't seem to fit.” Read More...

Wonder WomanIt seems the highly publicized and often controversial “Wonder Woman” television series reboot could find itself canceled before it even had a chance to premiere. NBC has rejected the pilot and will not be taking on the show, according to a new report.

This news comes from Entertainment Weekly, which can speculate on but not confirm the reasons for NBC’s decision. According to the report, the pilot was only able to get mixed reviews when aired at test screenings.

Locke & KeyA trio of comics-inspired television projects were the subject of headlines today, and little of the news was good.

According to Deadline, Fox has decided not to pick up the pilot for "Locke & Key," a planned miniseries based on IDW Publishing's popular comic. While there's still a chance that another network could step in to take ownership of the project, fans should probably temper their expectations at this point. (We're keeping our fingers crossed here at Splash Page HQ.)

Fox wasn't done with the bad news, though, as the network also announced the cancellation of "Human Target." Read More...

Jaimie AlexanderIt seems just about everything for the new “Wonder Woman” show can be controversial to comics fans — from her outfit to the actress hired — but Jaimie Alexander, who plays Lady Sif in “Thor,” has pretty strong opinions of her own about Diana Prince. In fact, she feels so strongly about the character that she once turned down the role.

Speaking to FilmCritic, Alexander said, “Look, if I got approached to play Wonder Woman, which has happened once or twice, I would have to say, ‘Look, let's take this serious. Let's make her a positive role model. Let's make this a non-campy version of her.’ Because I haven't seen that done yet.”

An admitted comics fan, Alexander doesn’t think highly of how Wonder Woman has been portrayed so far. Read More...
